Futurama - Season 1-4

Futurama rocks and I am sure that if this box set had every reached me I would have loved watching my favorite episodes again and again. Unfortunately it never arrived (not sure why) so I had to cancel the order... which reminds me I must go and re-order this. I'm giving it 5 stars because I know all the episodes and they are hysterical and the price was reasonable if it had been fulfilled.

I like the show and the characters. Price reasonable.

This box set is a real gem for Futurama fans. The quality is excellent, and there is an appropriate stack of bonus material. The only shame is that it is very evident that Matt&co tired of making commentaries after doing only a handful of episodes. The first couple of tracks are funny and informative, but that quickly fades (I wonder if they did them all in one go?). They end up talking about totally unrelated matters and even make fun of the whole concept of commentaries -- at that point, it would have been better to just not include any. I haven't bothered to check the commentary tracks on the last couple of discs...

A box set? Are you mad? Well, if there is any box set that you should but make it this one. Not least because there are no plans to make an extension to the collection. Futurama was deemed unpopular in the USA - the reasons for which must be partly the same as those that make it so funny and poignant to those people who watch it from the UK. Okay, so the Simpsons holds its cult followers, being able to cross cultures and even language. But Futurama appeals to both those people who just want 'stupid' humour and those who want some intellect slipped in with it. Each character could have a book written about them and you find out much more about these individuals in a short space of time than you could hope for in the Simpsons, in fact I believe them to be far deeper and that probably serves to deepen their appeal. Its got comedy moments for all the family, I have sat down with a three year old and watched an entire series back to back. But ive also sat at work with a dude, who would hate me referring to him as 'old' right now, quoting phrases and laughing in bursts at favourite sketches and memories of each series. Its also one of those rare specimens that actually has the ability to thrown in a few new bits each time you watch it. My favourite? When they are superheroes and running about to their theme song. You will see!

I'm not going to write about Futurama itself, since it has been written much about it in previous reviews (if you still want to know more, visit [...] I'd like to comment on this release: complete box of 4 seasons (72 episodes). The package is fine. It includes 15 DVDs divided into four separate boxes (= four seasons). Each DVD has its own plastic box. On each DVD there are several special features (extras) like audio commentary by the creators, deleted scenes or so called animatics (working versions of some episodes). I guess the DVDs are pretty much the same as in releases of single seasons. So if you already own all the seasons, it would be probably useless to buy this box, because you won't get anything new (except for the fine box itself, of course ;)). But if you don't have single seasons, then this box is really worth buying. I must add, that the price on Amazon is more than friendly ;).

I have been a fan of this show since it first came out and couldn't wait to get it all on dvd! This boxset is a gem its nice and compact so doesn't take up too much space and the box has a cool design with most of the characters on it! My favourite is and always has been dr zoidberg he cracks me up every time! will watch this again and again well worth buying if you like the show

Nothing bad to say about Futurama - I love Futurama and the fact that you get 4 seasons for a good price is the 4 stars. The packaging however, is the worst that I've ever handled with any product. It consists of a box with 4 'books' that hold the DVDs, 1 per season. These are supposed to slide into the cover box. After taking the cellophane off initially, it took 10 minutes to get the contents to slide out of the box so I could get the DVDs. It also became impossible to get the back in. The thing became like a Chinese puzzle. These 4 cardboard books were suddenly too wide to fit back into the cover box and after a good half an hour while watching an episode, I managed to slide them all in with some damage to the box. I proceeded to do Fry's Fonzie impression before realising of course, I couldn't get them back out again which ended up with me cutting the cover box down one of the corners. I'm not really bothered to be honest, but it seems ridiculous that I had to do this. I have plenty of TV and film boxsets and none have ever given me so much resistance. Beware....BEWARE..

I ordered this at about 1pm on friday the 26th of november, i opted for supersaver delivery etc. (the no frills option) i expected added to gether all the estimates this would take one or two weeks to come.. when i got up to goto work at 7am on the 27th there was a package at my door, i opened it and was speechless. I ordered it the afternoon of the day before and it arrived on my doorstep in much less than 24 hours and i hadnt opted nor payed for 24 hour delivery, Bravo amazon + delivery company that is THE fastest delivery ive recieved ever. The product? well im an avid futurama fan and felt that i should show my support for bringing back the series by buying the complete collection boxed set. It is a very intelligent comedy and i absolutely love it.

Une série excellente vraiment pas dessus ^^ et surtout content que la série soit resté au format d'origine pas comme certaines série où il force en 16/9 du coup ça dénature la qualité de l'image. Sinon concernant le coffret les boitier son vraiment bien, seul inconvénient c'est qu'un fourreau en carton dur aura pas été de refus ^^ à la place une boite en carton simple et fin qui contient un boitier large par saison, un peu dommage mais bon au vu du prix ça va carrément. A possédé dans sa collection d'urgence.

Die aberwitzigen Abenteuer von J. Philip Fry und seinen Kollegen sind für mich am ehesten mit Pratchetts Scheibenwelt Romanen oder Adams Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis zu vergleichen. Futurama ist die beste Science Fiction TV-Serie überhaupt und auch eine der besten Comedy Zeichentrickserien, was nicht verwundert wenn man den Schöpfer der Serie, Matt Groening, bedenkt. Wo die Simpsons angefangen haben unserer westlichen Gesellschaft im Allgemeinen und der amerikanischen im Speziellen den Spiegel vorzuhalten, holt die Crew der "Planet Express" zu einem Rundumschlag gegen alles und jeden aus, ohne jedoch (typisch Groening) zu Respekt- und Geschmacklos wie manch andere Comic-Serie zu werden. Und dank der Jahr-3000 Rahmenhandlung sind der Phantasie keine Grenzen gesetzt. Einziger Wermutstropfen: die deutsche Synchro ist wie so oft grottig (was ist mit Zoidberg bei der Übersetzung nur geschehen?!). Auf dieser UK Version fehlt diese eh, aber deutsche Untertitel wären schön gewesen.Trotzdem: Wer niveauvolle Blödelei sucht wird hier besten bedient. KAUFEN!

Il box di Futurama (nonostante sul box ci sia scritto in inglese "Tutte le stagioni complete") in realtà contiene soltanto le prime quattro, in quanto il box è antecedente all'arrivo della quinta stagione (ovvero quando Comedy Central ha acquisito Futurama e ha proseguito la serie). È giusto precisare che non è presente la lingua italiana in questi DVD e quindi, sono appropriati per chi mastica bene l'inglese o semplicemente per chi vuole avere questo particolare pezzo da collezione. PRO: - Il prezzo, il mio è costato sui 18 euro - Le quattro stagioni sono suddivise in 4 mini-box da 4-5 dischi l'uno - La scatola esterna è piccola e non ingombrante, potete metterla quasi ovunque. CONTRO: - Conviene acquistarla per il prezzo che l'ho pagata io - Una volta aperto il box fate attenzione a non rompere gli adesivi esterni che reggono la base inferiore o rischierete di far cadere tutti i DVD al suolo. Consiglio l'acquisto.

What can I say about futurama that hasnt been said before? This show is perfect in the line of humour and character growth that matt groeing and seth cohan did to their best. Sadly though, the demise of this TV show came from when too many people just couldnt catch onto the gold humour that was given in every episode. Was it the subtle Sci-fi comments? Was it the occasional metaphor that someone with beyond 10th grade education might understand? I dont know, but like most people, nerd and non nerd alike, was heartbroken to hear that it was taken off tv. Maybe in a few years people will turn around and appriciate what golden humour this show provided. This boxset is the quintessential collection of all the futurama episodes sold in one seemingly special box for possible "show-ponyship" that might impress some people, or for that fact that "iT cUlD b3 RaRe 1n A fEw yEaRz LOL" and some people might buy it so they can sell it off for a slightly hefty price to other idiots that may pay for it. But seriously, with all due respect to the show and what not, I cannot seemingly justify the price tag that comes along with this boxset. If every season was bought seperate (at $24.99 as shown on amazon) you would pay Seasons 1-4 (sold individually)= $99.96 Seasons 1-4 (Primative set not boxed up but still containing all seasons) = $106.76 This boxset: Starting from $212 Why??? Is the box made from kryptonite? Does it contain a signed melllvar picture? No. Its just packaged differently. And for those of you in america with primative dvd players, it might not play on your system cause its PAL. Do the right thing: Buy the seasons seperatly and save yourself $100. If you honestly feel like the money is worth it, Let me know so you can spend the difference on me. This show is so worth it. But not at that price
