The Craft - A Witch's Book of Shadows

Amazing book for beginners!
The media could not be loaded. This book is very detailed and goes into depth of what you need to know as a beginner witch! I still reference it after 1 year of owning it. I love the explanations of the days of the week, herbs, flowers, crystal and moon phases and how they influence your spell work. This book will give you a detailed, step by step explanation of circle casting. With everything in life, take what you need and what applies to your craft and leave the rest. All in all, it is a very good book to have for anyone interested in the craft.

Perfect introductory book for baby witches!
I first bought this book a few years back from a metaphysical bookstore years ago while I was going through a very chaotic, painful, but pivotal period of my life. This book provided some method to my madness, so to speak, in regards to my spirituality. It helped build a framework from which I would later structure my own core values and key principles within my practice. It’s an easy read, with simple yet concise and thorough foundational knowledge and basic elements in a wide range of various subjects. I’ve recommended this book to numerous baby witches just starting out on their path, and I’ve purchased it again so that I could give my cousin a gift for Yule/winter solstice. She was stoked to receive this!Overall, I highly recommend this book to those taking their first steps upon the path. You’ll thank yourself later.

Best spell book ever written!
I was a teen when I first bought this book. The very first spell I cast was to find a lost object. It worked instantly! My friends and I were astonished!

A good first book for Wicca
This was the first book on witchcraft I read. I've since read several more but this book was by far the easiest, lightest read and perfectly suits being a good first book to Wicca. And yes, it's definitely about Wicca, not general witchcraft, so be prepared for sugar-coated ritual and philosophies not shared by general witches. Still, I do go back and refer to this book regularly as it is a good, clear reference for things like tools/dates/etc.

The Craft - A Witch's Book of Shadows
I've been looking for a book like this for awhile. I have found some nice ones but this one covers more than I expected and everything that I have wanted. Tools of the craft are explained, exercises to do weekly with those tools and explanations of the Sabbats. Different appendixes that go over "Deity Associations" and "The Magical Uses of Herbs, Plants, Flowers, and Trees" just to name two of them. This is a one stop shop, you can get what you need to learn about "The Craft" quite well from this book. I also purchased the "The Craft Companion" journal to this book and it is great as well with full blank pages to record experiences and every other page is a Spell. Really happy with both purchases, very happy. I will be purchasing Dorothy Morrison's other books until I have all of them after seeing how nicely these books are put together.

Dorothy Morrison's "The Craft"- A Witches Book of Shadows
Dorothy Morrison is obviously very well informed about the subject of her book and as done an excellent job bringing her reader into the world of Wicca and Witch Craft. I found this book both historically and politically correct and an interesting read beginning to end. This book left me wanting for more knowledge and I will definitely buy the rest of Ms. Morrison's books to delve further into this amazing subject. Ms. Morrison has a wonderful talent as a writer and I highly recommend 'The Craft' for the common sense approach the author has taken to this sometimes controversial subject. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for intriguing read that will not be laid down beginning to end.

awesome from the start
i ordered this for a class i am going to take,i ordered the wrong book the first time as i ordered the companion book. so i re-ordered this book and now i have an awesome set of books to use in a class i will be taking. i find this book to be very helpful and it is showing me how and what would go into a book of shadows. it offers suggestions but does not say you must do it this way and this way only. it allows you to decide what would be good for you when you make your own book of shadows.

Buy this book before all others
I gobbled this book up in about 3 days and have been referring to it frequently. This book is a beautifully written text with a systematic layout for ritual, what to say, how to use witch's tools (wand, cauldron, athame, broom/besom, pentacle, etc..) Dorothy Morrison offers prose that is pleasant to hear and explains how to prep for ritual, how to do ritual (ie: cast circle, call the Quarters, thank and release deities and Quarters, libation, etc...) Hers is what I use in my BOS for ritual because it feels just right. This book explains Esbats, Sabbats, the Elements, and just so many essential things to use in daily practice. If you are starting out, buy this first! All other books will make sense once you absorb the essentials here. If you are an experienced practitioner, you may find that this book offers such well written prose and spells that you will include them in your work. Loved this book and look fwd to reading more by this author.

The Craft: A Witch's Book of Shadows
This book is perfect for those either with an interest in Wicca or those that have a little experience in the Craft. It is not a novel or someone’s theories and opinions on Wicca and should not be taken as such. This book is best used as a source of reference. I have found the book useful when casing spells and balancing elements. If you are looking for a practical Wicca reference book this is the one to buy.My only negative comment I have is that the book is very US centered (as many books written in the US are) especially when ingredient and measurements are concerned.

The Craft, a great introduction to practising Wicca.
Very straight forward book with information and rituals to start your personal Wicca. Informative and interesting. Even as an address you can write to the author for further info and a reading list in the back if you want to continue studying Wicca.
