## Description

Product Description Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods provide a cutting-edge solution for rising damp problems. These patented 12 mm diameter grooved rods carry a potent water-repellent material. Inserted into pre-drilled 12 mm holes along a building's mortar lines, the material forms a highly effective barrier against rising damp and establishes a damp-proof course. This prevents further rising damp and contributes in wall drying. Accredited with BBA approval certificate 97/3363, Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods have undergone rigorous independent testing to ensure a reliable solution for low and high porosity mortar, low alkalinity and high alkalinity mortar and lime-based mortar. Other benefits include consistent application, a clean and simple application process and all-weather application capability. Appearance: White, cog-shaped solid fibre rod. Size & Packaging: Pack of 10 rods, each 180 mm in length and 12 mm in diameter. Coverage: For 4.5” thick wall, 42 rods per 10 m are required. For 9” thick wall, 84 rods per 10 m are required. The application involves drilling 12 mm holes along mortar lines, with specific depth and length guidelines provided. For thicker walls or rubble in-fill, Dryzone Damp Proofing Cream is recommended. Once installed, Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods typically cure over a month, subject to site conditions. Replastering using a suitable damp-resistant plaster, like Dryzone System Renovation plaster, is crucial for effective wall drying. Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods are produced in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental management systems.

Review: Easy to use, no mess or special tools. Extremely helpful company with great support. AND IT WORKS! - I had a problem with rising damp in a rendered concrete and brick foundation to an external concrete and steel stairs. The damp was causing the steel reinforcement inside the stairs to rust, cracking the concrete with the long-term risk of structural failure. I decided to try Dryrods, even though they designed for inserting into mortar lines. I contacted Safeguard via their website for advice and found them amazingly helpful. They gave excellent support from their technical department, sent product samples to test and followed up by email afterwards. The Dryrods are packed in sealed foil containers in a package displaying excellent instructions showing the easy installation. The base of my stairs is about 1.5 metres square; I could only access three sides so I calculated I needed about 30 rods. The holes at the corners didn’t need to be at the recommended 120mm centres because they extend into the base 210mm, so reducing the number required. I first drilled 8mm x 210mm holes into the concrete then opened them to 12mm. Keeping the drill running I removed and reinserted it several times to clear the holes of debris, so I didn’t need the hole clearing tool. The rods pushed in easily in most cases, but they bent easily if a hole was a bit a tight and it jammed. Once bent it was difficult to insert without enlarging the hole slightly. In some places I couldn’t drill to the full depth, so I cut the rods with a Stanley knife. The off-cuts weren’t wasted because I used them in the other holes. When finished I just filled the holes and painted over. You’ll need rubber gloves when handling the rods. Also the rods have an expiry date so don’t be tempted to buy extra for future use. The job was really easy with no mess. You don’t need any special tools, just a hammer drill with a long 12mm drill (and an 8mm starter drill if you’re drilling into concrete). This has stopped the rising damp! We have had heavy rain since and no sign of any damp. An amazing product from a very customer-orientated company. Thoroughly recommended
Review: Easy to install with no fuss and very little expense - Title: Game-changing damp solution—clean, effective, and long-lasting The Dryrod Damp Proofing Rods (10 Pack) are a standout solution for tackling rising damp with minimal mess and maximum impact. If you've dealt with traditional damp treatments—liquids, injections, or disruptive drilling—these rods feel like a breath of fresh air. They’re clean, precise, and engineered for long-term results. Installation is straightforward: drill the recommended holes into the mortar line, insert the rods, and let them do the work. No pumping, no leakage, and no waiting around for messy creams to dry. The rods are pre-dosed and self-regulating, which takes the guesswork out of application and ensures consistent coverage. Performance-wise, they’re excellent. Within weeks, I noticed a significant reduction in damp patches and musty odours. The walls began to dry out steadily, and the improvement was visible and measurable. Because the rods create a chemical barrier deep within the masonry, the protection feels robust and enduring. Each pack covers a decent area, and the product is ideal for DIYers and professionals alike. The instructions are clear, and the process is surprisingly quick for such a powerful treatment. If you're serious about resolving rising damp without the hassle of traditional methods, Dryrod is a smart, modern choice. It’s efficient, discreet, and delivers exactly what it promises.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: is this item easy to use**
A: yes, just drill hole to correct length in the mortar course, cut rod to correct length if necessary (I used a hacksaw and had to cut the rods as the wall was only one brick thick) and push it into the hole. Instructions are on their website and on the packet. Very easy.

**Q: Do you install these on the internal walls or external or both as traditionally you inject from both sides when damp proofing?**
A: Good morning,Thank you for your enquiry into Safeguard and our Dryrod product. If you have a solid 9" wall, the Dryrod can be inserted from either the inside or the outside, whichever is more convenient.Alternatively, for a cavity wall with two skins of 4.5" brickwork, the Dryrod can be cut (using the Dryrod cutter) to fit this type of wall. You can then insert the Dryrod from both the interior and the exterior. It is important to note that the Dryrod is designed to be inserted directly into the mortar course. We recommend to drill 90% of the way through that particular skin of wall to insert the Dryrod into.I hope this answers your questions but please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.Kind regards,Ben BurnsSafeguard Europe Ltd01403 210204

**Q: Will these work in a wooden log cabin wall?**
A: I'd use, a waterproofing compound paint, containing fibre for this job..
Or the black rubbery paint, for flat roofs. Or indeed, a really good wood rot protection paint, or sealer...
👍

**Q: Can I drill into the external render for a double 9" brick wall where I cant see mortar line. So directly in brick behind external render**
A: Yes it shouldn’t be a problem if you’re not exactly on the mortar line.
