Very good, comical and light hearted
This manga is one of the best I have ever read. The characters are all very entertaining and the plot stays in focus. If you like comedy manga about a high school girl trying to get into voice acting then I would highly recommend you give this a try.

Flawed reasoning of seishun
Or why I don't want to ever be a teenager again...The story revolves around our heroine, Hime Kino, who wants to eventually become a voice actress (seiyu) on her favorite anime, Lovely Blazers (sorry, can't do the heart here), playing a cute-sounding magical girl. However, her voice is rough and gravelly, and she has a few other flaws that keep getting in the way of her ambitions. This is another take on the Pygmalion story: the rough girl transforming into something far better. The writer/artist, Miki Minami, posits that enough young people in Japan want to become voice actors that an art school can afford to have a separate department for such. Okay, it's not that important, so we'll let that near-impossibility slide. We then have a totally unqualified girl getting into what should be a very exclusive program at a very exclusive school. I've seen far too many manga and anime where teenagers who are stupid, lazy, poor, or inept somehow still manage to attend prestigious schools. We'll let that one go, too.In spite of the bogus premises, the story still somehow works. Hime Kino, the main protagonist of this story, is fun to watch as she struggles against her own limitations. Her can-do attitude attracts the attentions of a producer and the star pupil in her class. She's bound to eventually succeed in voice acting, but only if she's willing to adapt to her reality. Most of the secondary characters are also interesting in their own ways, with many motivations that can still be explored. It's nice to see them treated that way, instead of just being cardboard cutouts that come and go.Hopefully this promising start will continue with character development in future volumes, even though it's presented in an unrealistic view of the world of voice acting in Japan. I hope this is never made into an anime, because the thought of a real seiyu having to trash her voice to play the role of Hime Kino makes me cringe.

One of my all time favorite manga
This manga is laugh out loud funny, every volume. It's well paced and it really gives you the feeling that every scene is necessary to the story development. The main character is my absolute favorite and I love how her journey is one of self improvement instead of a desperate pursuit of love. Love is something that she finds along the way of her journey but it was not the goal and at the end it is clear that it is something that she actively decides. I really want to see more female characters like this main character

Very Funny! It is worth the read
There is something about this manga that is special. Yes, it is a typical story line of a girl aspiring to become something greater, but the way it is executed makes the overall reading experience quite enjoyable. The pictures and text bring the voices alive for the characters, so much so that you can almost hear the voices. In some cases, this leads to laugh-out-loud funny situations. I like the art, as it has a fresh feeling to it. It is an improvement from earlier Special A volumes by Maki Minami and carries a versatility with it that can make for more individualistic characters, which can become a problem in shojo manga. This is a light-hearted story that focuses on character development, and Hime Kino's development is one that I want to see! It reminds of Skip Beat! in that sense where it focuses on individual growth and focuses on getting successful in the acting industry.Overall, please buy it! It really is funny and a heartwarming story. After reading it, you want to see the character achieve their goal!

Same Story. Different title.
It's just like Special A. Except they're competing over voice acting instead of Academics. It's the exact same plot and kind of characters. But I liked Special A, so I'm not going to say this is bad. But it's kind of like... I already read it.

Very good start
~3.5/5[More of my reviews are available on my blog, Geeky Reading, to which there's a link on my profile.]I was really excited when Shojo Beat announced they were releasing this. I hadn’t even heard about the series, but as soon as I noticed it was by the same author as SA, I wanted it. I really enjoyed that series, and honestly kind of missed the humor and sidenotes, and especially the little funny comics at the end. Honestly, this was a little bit of a weak start, but I’m really excited for the series to get going, because I’m sure it’s going to be good.So Hime is just starting at a school that has a voice acting program, because that’s what she wants to do, even though her voice tends to go deep and masculine when she’s trying to be cute. Because of this, she gets put in a group with the other stragglers, Tsukino (who has a very quiet voice), Sho (who has a temper), and Zaizen (arrogant with an accent). Then there’s Kudo, who’s top of the class, and who Hime immediately doesn’t get along with (but he also likes helpless animals, which he relates to Hime).I’m not completely attached to any of the characters, but there’s a big set up for all kinds of adventure. It’s obvious the attraction between Hime and Kudo is going to grow, and I’m already finding their interactions really funny, particularly when he looks at her like a poor kitten and wants to comfort her and then freaks out about it. The straggler group is entertaining. I haven’t gotten to know any of them enough, but I’m looking forward to that, as well as their stories and families. This was a really good opening, and I’m excited to read more.

Perfect for any seiyuu fan
Voice Over! Seiyu Academy (Seiyuu Ka!) volume 1 contains chapters 1 to 5 plus bonus pages. It is rated T for teen.I am a huge seiyuu fan. I follow them in an obsessive way. I already know the ins and outs of how to become a seiyuu and what it means to voice act in Japan. So of course I was going to pick up a manga about seiyuu!Voice Over is about a girl, Hime Kino, who has always dreamed of becoming a seiyuu like her hero Sakura Aoyama. She is accepted into the voice acting department of a famous academy, from there she will try her best to get a role in her favourite anime! But there is a slight problem. She has a deep rough voice that is similar to an old man's. The part she wants is that of a princess. She will have to work hard to improve her voice acting skills so she can get her dream role. That's not the only issue. She runs into Senri, a popular but ill mannered boy who turns out to be her hero's son! Luckily his negative words only make her more determined! The characters in this manga all have really interesting personalities! (just like real seiyuu). The author also wrote the manga Special A. I thought the art in S.A was good but it has improved even more in Voice Over! It's been a while since I started a new shoujo manga, I'm really glad I picked this up. I would recommend it to any shoujo fans, especially those who are seiyuu fans too.As mentioned in the book, Voice Over! has a drama CD so be sure to look up the cast for even more enjoyment! (Sugita as Senri is perfect)
