As a pet owner, keeping carpets looking fresh can feel impossible—but this machine makes it effortless. The automatic washing and drying system is incredibly convenient; all I have to do is push forward to wash and pull back to dry. It takes the guesswork out of carpet cleaning. The suction power is impressive, and it lifted deep-set dirt and stains I thought were permanent. The included pet tool is fantastic for stairs, upholstery, and those stubborn little messes pets tend to leave behind. I also love that the machine dispenses the right amount of solution automatically—no mixing, no mess. After one full clean, my carpets looked visibly brighter, smelled fresh, and dried surprisingly quickly. The build quality feels solid, and despite being powerful, the machine is easy to move around and store. If you have pets—or just want professional-level results at home—the Vax Platinum SmartWash Pet-Design is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!

Brilliant machine - so pleased I paid extra for this Vax Platinum Smartwash Pet carpet cleaner having bought cheaper ones in the past and been disappointed. This machine is light enough to use and manoeuvre easily whilst still feeling a quality weight. Tanks are all easy to fill and clean, it is very simple to use once you’ve read the short instruction book and thanks to the motion sensing dispense and vacuum, you get exactly the right amount of liquid onto the carpet preventing over-soaking. The benefit of this is that carpeted floors dry really quickly (10-30mins) particularly if you go over the floor quickly with the dry-only function at the end of a clean. Time will tell how reliable this machine is but at less than £200 it is excellent value for money.

This has been my first effort with a carpet cleaning machine such as this one, so I am unable to compare it with other similar types. I am impressed. The machine arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. There is a very good instruction booklet within the box that explained the very minimal assembly required, along with clear instructions for safe use of this device. After only a few minutes I was ready for my first attempts at cleaning the carpets. It is noisy, there is no denying that, much like a rather loud vacuum cleaner. I do not however find it uncomfortably so, but others may appreciate wearing some sort of ear defenders/plugs. The machine will soon go through a tank of warm water while getting a good deal of cleaning done. I like that the machine washes when going forward, and dries when pulled back. The machine can also rinse only (no soap) and be set to dry only. Once I have made at least one pass, I like to rinse, then set the machine to dry only mode where it will suck up a good amount of water, but of course it will not make the carpets absolutely dry. I use a dehumidifier overnight for that, and in the morning all carpets are dry and look totally re-invigorated. I was very impressed how it brings a carpet back to life. There is a small bottle of 'concentrated' cleaner for use on stubborn stains (this goes into the small tank on the handle for pre-treatment) and this works very well, lifting stains with apparent ease. I have not yet used the hose attachment with the smaller cleaning nozzle, but it is nice to have and will be required at some point in the future. This machine is not cheap, but it is well made. It has clear instructions and is easy to operate. Most importantly, it really does clean well.

This is an incredible piece of kit. In the past I have used bulky “ Rug Doctor” machines with the expensive Rug Doctor products which are very heavy, hard to transport etc. This decided me to purchase the Vax Smartwash after seeing reviews. The price on Amazon was excellent. The cleaning samples, attachments all of excellent quality. I used it on 100% wool stair and lounge carpets that had not been cleaned for a year or two. Along with two sofas.As i wanted a wool safe cleaning product I also ordered the Vax plus 4 litre cleaner. All the results are excellent. My only tip was whilst using the hose and attachment on the sofa during the moisture removal , the clear plastic cover detached. I found it was worth using your index finger on top of the clear plastic cover detached cover as you put pressure on cushions ( see photo). As an extra aid I used a couple of old towels to wipe the sofa to reduce the drying time.

Disclaimer: We have 3 puppies and live in an old cottage with a lot of carpet :) Let's review this carpet cleaner ! It's really light when empty, and I would to first get it in the room/area you want befre filling the water tank ;) Our house is really old and the carpets are pretty old as well, but using this with a dedicated carpet cleaning product made a real difference : Cleaned room smelled almost like new. It's really efficient on dirt removal in the carpets and is well made. You can push it to the limit, it will remain really effective ! Overall, it's a great value for the money we bought it for. We are really happy, and I still remember the old cleaner my parents used when I was a child and this is so much better and easier to use ! (of course there was a lot of upgrades in 35 tears, but still, this is impressive !)

This cleaner works perfectly and is easy to use. It did an amazing job of all the carpets in my house, you can also see how well it works when you empty it. No assembly required, just put on the 3 easy to use tanks, slot in the handle and that's it! You probably don't need the pet version of it, as it's just a battery operated squirter in the handle, that you dethatch to use. Just spray pet stain-remover directly from the bottle. I'm really pleased, and for this price, it's excellent value. You only have to use it 3-4 times and you've saved the cost of hiring one. No faults, no issues. It even has a feature that only sprays water when the device is moving forward at the right speed. The dry-only switch allows you to fully remove a lot of water after cleaning.

STAR PERFORMER Assembly was easy, following the instructions. Compared to my old machine this new Vax is much lighter and glides along nicely, even on our long pile carpets. The new Vax makes light work of what used to be a hard job. So impressed, I carried on and deep cleaned several rooms. The "dry only" option is a bonus. Recommend!

Probably best to avoid. Long time vax carpet cleaner owner so I expected similar quality and longevity! Sadly not. First of the pet smart wash machine ( 6 months ago) straight out the box wouldn’t suck up water and left the rug soaked through. That was replaced the following week by Amazon. Second machine developed a fault with the solution tank ( jan ‘26) - it split in two, it actually halved open. It’s only held together with a silicone seal around the middle - ridiculous design flaw for a water containing vessel. Leaked all over the floor then machine was unusable as solution tank was split open. Amazon refused a refund or replace instead requested i pay to return the item to be ‘assessed for repair’ and once an assessment was carried out under warranty I would be contacted within 5-7 days with the outcome, a fix and return 🤔🙄 very reluctantly I sent off the machine, worried about courier damage with the back and forth parcel. No contact was made from Amazon resulting in me contacting them, and a helpful person refunding me almost Instantly. Not sure why that couldn’t have happened the previous week! Anyway - machine is good when it wants to be. It’s flaky. Sucks up when It wants, decides it won’t when it fancies. Not sure I want to purchase a third. I may buy the shark. * edit : now purchased the shark carpet cleaner. It’s pretty good.
