High-quality. Well-made.
To be fair I've never bought one before but I do have about 100 different knives. I bought this based upon having some of the best reviews. It seems to be very well built and comes in a nice roll pack which is different than what's shown on the description. Blades are of high-quality. It locks open easily with a very smooth action that seems a little weak but like I said it pops open and locks easily. It's like any locking knife when you release it just be careful not to close the blade on you because it definitely is sharp. If using the clip be careful re-inserting the screw because you're not getting near as much thread being used being that it sits on top of the two bent brackets of the clip. I would use a little Loctite on the screw to keep it from backing out. While the screw and metal is of high-quality just be careful tightening it. The blades appear to be high-quality with the spares coming in a 10 pack individually sealed in sterile packages. Yes it cost twice as much as the other ones but you will see a lot of negative reviews on those. I got them originally as gifts but got one extra for myself and I'm glad I did.

Perfect Pocket Scalpel
This is a phenomenal piece of equipment. It takes the #60 blades which have a similar blade profile as the Benchmade Osborne series. I cannot say if it takes the Avalon #60A, but I cannot tell you that the blade fits perfectly into the handle with no wiggle — this is a primary complaint for me on other fixed scalpels I own. The groove that holds the blade is machined perfectly for the width of the standard #60. If the #60A has a wider blade, you will likely have to mod the holder or risk a break trying to fit it. I also imagine the #60XT would have a little wiggle if it were thinner. I am NOT a fan of frame lock knives. This may be the only exception because the part of the frame that locks is removable. Should there be any issues with wear or grime that gets into the frame, you can remove it for maintenance or replacement. Another feature that is amazing new, but may become a pain point later is the ball bearing. I prefer brass shims over bearings because there is less clearance for dust and dirt. With an application of graphite, it keeps the shims lubed and moisture resistant. The bearings are small, but the knife is designed for complete break down. You will need a specialized star bit for the screws. That, again, may be a pain point should one need replacement. Given that, I recommend thread lock to reduce the chance of the screws vibrating loose over time. Another small complaint is the clip attachment. It is a deep carry clip which is phenomenal for conceal carry, especially with such a thin profile. When you put the clip on, the screw sticks out instead of being flush, despite the machined grooves for the clip. A slight mod to the underside of the screw head would remedy this, but I am content without the clip. The pull ring looks tacticool, but for conventional use, it is bulky and ruins the look. It may be useful for those in winter settings with gloves, because if this hits fresh powder, it is most likely gone. Lastly, the blade has three deployment methods — a thumb peg, a pant hook, and a roll tab. The thumb peg is very close to the frame. You can use it, but the roll tab is by far the best of all the deployment methods. This knife is worth the money. There are also two grooves in each side which can fit 2mm x 13mm tritium vials. It might make it easier to find should it slip into someplace dark.

This is what I've been looking for FOREVER!!!
So, I've been EDCing an Emerson Waved pocket knife for about 20 years now. I soon graduated from a mini CQC-7 to a P'Kal, and from the P'Kal, I became obsessed with karambits. Now - my dilemma. I always have to carry two knives on me when I go out. One as a user and my waved knife as a self-defense option. I got tired of going to parties where everyone knows that I'm the knife guy and being asked "Hey, can I borrow your knife?" and having to turn them down, explaining that my blades stay sharp and will only cut flesh. The other huge problem - I spend a lot of time at home looking after my elderly parents and I live in Texas, so I like to wear thin athletic shorts in order to stay comfortable. I keep trying to buy lighter and lighter waved karambits to find one that's comfortable enough to wear around the house - no luck... UNTIL NOW! I know that it's not a karambit, but it has a ring and wave! It also has a replaceable blade, so no need to carry two knives! I can use my emergency defense tool as a package opener/etc. It also weighs less than half of my usual EDC, a Spyderco Karahawk so I barely notice it in my pocket. This gadget has literally changed my life! It's everything I needed! Thank you for making this Olitans! Keep it up! I will buy every waved. ringed scalpel holder that you come out with. Oh yeah, the fit, finish, action, presentation, EVERYTHING is top notch! Best thing I've purchased off of Amazon in a long time! Best scalpel knife in existence!

High Quality
This is a very well made knife. The Havalon 60A blades fit it perfectly. I ended up ordering a second one to replace my Havalon Piranta knives.

Works like a regular scalpel handle
This works like a regular scalpel handle for a 20 blade. It does not fit an 11 12 or 10. But it does fit a 20 really well. Does not lock open but not a big deal. Really well made. I am a surgeon it feels natural in my hand

takes 60, 60A, 60XT blades
They're fools for not listing that this holder will take thin and thick blades. I was surprised that this guy takes the thicker 60A blades as well as the thinner 60XT blades. I've measured various blades that fit this. It will take blades up to 620 micro meters thick, or micron. I also tried blades that are 490 micro meters thick. That's half of a millimeter. You can easily open it with one hand. Flick it open with your index finger, or pointing finger. Close it carefully. I already cut my finger closing it. I did not feel a thing. I just later saw blood. The gap where the blade folds into is very generous. The space for the length of the blade is also generous. Its a little longer than the blade. The blade wont hit anything going down. Expensive, but it seems to be one of the better 60 blade holders. No toyish colors.

It feels top notch. Snappy flick open++signet is off color
Overall 5 stars. Nothing major to say bad about it. Just the pocket clip screw issue. I loctite it and success so far. It's opening system is snappy. Don't push down with your index finger to open, but rather try to push through it and she'll snap open everytime. You can also adjust the statbit screws to loosen friction for a more positive flick. Set up and adjust before you put the blade in it. Carefull when pulling out of pocket if clipped. Mine deployed the blade upon retrieval from my pocket, I love the waves but wasn't expecting that from this knife.

Exceptional in this product class
If you’re looking at small, scalpel-based pocket knives and landed here wondering “why would I pay double for this one?”. In short, because it’s worth it. Action is crisp, the flipper works perfectly, there’s an alternate opening tab for push-to-open, the frame lock works nicely and doesn’t allow any play or jiggle, the pocket clip is variable for right of left draw, and the other accessories (karambit style retention ring, etc are very nice. If you’re on the fence, just get this one. It’s very, very good.
