Both of them were good for about a year and then the problems begin. I was fed up with bringing a multi meter down to the basement and spending an hour trying to diagnose which component had malfunctioned. Spent the extra money and went with Rheem because I’ve seen that brand at many expensive houses I work at. I installed the heater today and put it on 140 degrees to test it out. The water was so hot I couldn’t even touch it. Even when the Ecosmart units were brand new they never heated water like this. Rheem has a higher flow rate which makes all the difference.
