MK420 42-Inch Lawn Mower Blade Mulching Kit

The kit installed and fit perfectly on my 42" craftsman riding lawn mower deck. However, the packaging was terrible and the instructions were confusing. Thankfully this is an item that would do more damage to other items as a result of poor packaging vs. getting damage. The box the blades were in isn't strong enough on the ends so don't ever carry it in a way that puts the pressure from the weight on the blades at the ends. The other piece was just kind of tossed in. I said the instructions were confusing because the inventory of items, as well as the illustration, leads you to believe that there are quite a few screws, bolts, and washers missing. It wasn't until a week later that I discovered the mulching cover actually already has these pieces installed and it's ready to go right out of the box. While this is a nice convenience, it is a bit confusing because the instructions. Install was super easy, fit perfectly, and works great. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase as the same kit at the store is about $10-15 more.

It is a mulch kit and works just like you would expect,and fits just perfect. This item is not made by Husqvarna,(I don't think it matters who makes it as long as it works and is well made,and it seems to be). What I thought was most important to say is that it fits a lot more than Husqvarna.It also fits Craftsman 42 inch decks which is what I own. After trying to get it from sears and waiting a week only to be told they had no idea when it would arrive. I did some research and found that the model numbers of my tractor (LT2000 model#917.289073) matched the Husquvarna. This kit is the same as Sears part number 33742. Last thing I would say is that I needed this by a certain date and with Sears failing to deliver, Amazon with there great shipping delivered as promised in less than 24 hours of ordering it and allowing me to have it on the day i needed it!

I have an older model Craftsman LTX-1000 lawn tractor with a 42 inch deck. This model was apparently made by Husqvarna. It already is set up for mulching with a very similar shield. However parts of the shield are damaged and one of the rubber straps that holds it in place is missing. I thought that this shield would fit.It is close -- the old and new shield clearly share most of the same design, but everything is a little off. The new shield is too high and also does not extend laterally far enough to meet the mower deck. Therefore, there is a gap about a foot long and an inch wide between the deck and the shield. I suspect that the mower deck/ shield was redesigned sometime between the time we bought the tractor and the time this was made.We have jury rigged the new shield in place and it sorta works. I am not sure if I will continue to use this or go back to the older partially functional unit.Incidentally, the box is label "Electrolux" not Husqvarna. I assume that Electrolux also sells a mower made by Husqvarna? But the contents of the box are clearly exactly the same as the illustrations at Amazon, so I am sure the wrong part was not shipped in error. and I thought that this would fit. ItI bought this mostly for the mulching discharge shield, but also figured I would get an extra set of mulching blades.

Bought this kit for my 2014 Craftsman 3000 YT (w/ 42" deck). Installation of the deck discharge cover was easy and quick. The mulching blades that were provided in the kit, were the same as those that originally came on my new 3000 YT. Installed; the kit allows the mower deck to do a good job in mulching grass clipping and leaf litter. The only complaint I have, is that that the cover doesn't seal very well at the top and allows a lot of dirt and debris to fly up on my leg and the top of the deck.

The mulching kit was very easy to install and works quite well. The clippings from my lawn still tend to be ejected from the open side in spite of the cover being in place, but not nearly as much as without the cover. The blades seem to do a nice job of mulching leaves and grass clippings provided I set the deck height low enough (usually on the 3rd of 6 deck height settings). A note for those who have not used a mulching kit before - damp grass/leaves = poor mulching capability. Make sure you cut the grass when it's as dry as possible.

Very pleased. Fit my Craftsman Y4000 series tractor very easily and correctly. Blade does as advertised. Used it to mulch a 1.5 acre lawn with many trees and big piles of leaves. It doesn't seal perfectly and lets a fair amount of mulched leaves blow out the plug, but does the job quite well. Takes several passes to really work the leaves into small enough mulch. That said, we were and are very pleased. Good product.

The first think I noticed was these items fit a Husqvarna lawn tractor but are not Husqvarna brand which is what I thought I was buying. The plug that blocks the side discharge fits adequately but needs a bit of pushing and pulling to make it fit tight. Don't know if the brand name would do the same or not since I don't have one. I actually haven't used the blades yet due to my mower being brand new and seem to work fine. These blades look like there is more surface area to cut the grass blades so should work as well or better.

Received the shipment very rapidly without any concerns there. Blades were sharp and easy to install - with instructions included. It fit's nicely.In my opinion, having a mulching blade is a must have if you have a riding lawn mower. Not only does it cut down on the time to bag and dispose of clippings, the small pulverized clippings provide about 50% of the fertilizer needs of the lawn each year. My lawn and my neighbors lawn went in at the same time and we water them the same. Mine is a dark green and richer lawn. His is more yellow and stays green for less of the year. He's now switching to mulching blade.
