I'm a fan of all of the Lucky Luke Comics - their wit and sense of humour is yet to be matched in my opinion. The artwork was fantastic for the time. The actual plot was pretty far fetched but then it's supposed to be - its a comic!

I liked that It was a comic.It was amazing that Lucky Luke was in it.I gave it a five star rating because I liked it.

How nice to be able to find those in English! Perfect Christmas present that'll initiate my non-French speaking boyfriend to Lucky Luke. :)

This was a much loved book from my childhood, and I bought this for some nostalgia and also to hopefully entertain my children. However, the new translation has removed all the vast majority of funny lines that I remembered. It might be amusing to somebody who is unfamiliar with the original, but unfortunately I'm not in that category and cannot recommend it.Edited to add: two years later, I've managed to find an original version and it's even better than I remember as a child. Look for the translation by Frederick Norton - it's so far above and beyond this travesty. Now I've had a chance to directly compare, I'm revising my original review down to a single star - and it's lucky to get that.

There are particular ingredients that make up an absolute classic Lucky Luke book, and you have them all here. A trip across American with a cargo of gold, a huge bunch of nasty critters trying to rob the gold, a ridiculous host of travellers on a rickety stagecoach and a lunatic coachdriver bent on chaos. Probably one of the best Lucky Luke books ever.

This appears to be a new translation, and is unfortunately therefore a bit disappointing; I'd like to know what was wrong with the old version: "Potatoes and Lard" is a bit weird after the original - was it "Bacon and Beans"?
