A Year in the Garden: A Guided Journal

Part planner, part journal
This is my first time using a garden planner and I really like this format. I wanted something where I could keep track of what I plant and how things grow. Each month starts with a blank monthly calendar. Then it has a tracker page where you can list the activities you want to track and check off the days you complete the task. The following pages alternate between a weekly page and a "prompted" page where you can record your plans, observations, and ideas. The illustrations are cute and the calendar pictures change with the seasons. As a previous reviewer stated, this doesn't give you a checklist of tasks that you need to complete at certain times or gardening tips. It does have prompts for you to think about your garden design, what you will plant, what you'll do with your harvest, etc. You'll have to add your goals and schedule based upon your needs. It can also be used as a general appointment planner, there's plenty of room to do so. I am trying something different and using the weekly pages to track different things and as additional journaling pages (I already have a general planner that works well for me).Overall, I definitely like it and recommend it if it's the type of planner you're looking for.

No ribbon marker or elastic closure
The planner/journal is well done but I was disappointed that it wasn’t as described. There is no ribbon marker or elastic closure as indicated in the description.

Almost perfect
Like most gardeners I am very particular. I’ve never found the “perfect”journal for my garden, but this one is better than most. It has pages for sketching but I’m no artist, I use them instead to tape plant tags with dates purchased/planted; I also save receipts, so I know what kind of potting soil or amendments I purchased and when and from which vendor. The calendar is perpetual, so that’s nice, altho it has only 1 space for the weekend (Sat/Sun combined as one day), so I just write elsewhere & personalize it. The hard bound is quite sturdy, the elastic band has held up well & the satin bookmark has too. It’s missing a pocket or flap to save Fotos, notes, or cards but that could be remedied by simply taping a sturdy envelope where you want it. I try to journal daily & it has tolerated that kind of use. I’ll prob buy it again, mainly b/c I’m now familiar with it & it works for me.

This Works!
Well thought out. Really provides good ideas for keeping track of inventory of plants and planning out future plots. These journals are very individualistic. Get what works best for you. I looked at six different options before settling on this easy and portable record keeper. A great gift for the avid gardener (new or experienced) seeking some organization.

Wow ! Cute and handy organizer
We just purchased a house and I want to start getting into gardening. There’s a lot of information out there and it is difficult to sort through and keep organized for every different type of plant! I didn’t find any apps for my phone outlying what I wanted so I thought I would buy a journal to keep my thoughts and progress organized. I am very happy with this purchase! It is a full year but you can write in your own dates, it is set up in bullet journal fashion which I am familiar with (but found to be too time consuming when I created my own layouts) which is also very handy. I can’t wait to start using this!! Also the paper is very smooth and feels nice, and the binding is sturdy.

Beautiful, but for a small garden.
I love this yearly planner, it was very well thought out for the year. Beautiful for artist to keep track of their garden. My only issue is that there is not enough space to keep track of seeds and plants. This is more for a small garden. Unfortunately, many of the garden planners on Amazon don’t have an accurate description so that we can choose wisely.

So far so good...
It's only Feb, but so far I'm loving this layout. It's perfectly organized to help a novice gardener figure out what I need to be doing and when. It will be enormously helpful in keeping me on track so that I can look back next year at my notes on what worked and what didn't. I only gave it 4 stars because it's early in the year, but plan on coming back and updating based on my experience at the end of the season.

Organization that lets me be creative at the same time!
I ordered one for my mom...she's a very experienced gardener, and I thought she might appreciate the clean slate format that would help her organize her plans. Once it arrived, I loved it so much that I ordered another for myself. This is only my second year gardening but I love researching and drawing out my own plans. This is conducive to my artistic type of organization!

As near ideal as I can find for my purposes
I've not found anything which fits exactly what I need but this comes close to it . I like the feel of the journal. Good hard cover and good quality paper. I like the way it is divided into months but without actual dates so you can use it in any year. I like the way each month is divided into weeks and then individual days of the week so you can record what you need to do or what you have done. I like the way each month has a monthly double spread where you can record or track what you have done or what you want to do (e.g. feeding, watering, planting etc) I also like the space it gives to record other things or to plan what you want to do. Less useful to me are the headings it gives to these extra pages - e.g sketch a late flowering perennial and find alternate names for the plant. But you can ignore these headings and just use the space as you like. Many of the suggestions are useful -e.g. bulbs to buy next year in the July section. This is the second copy of this journal that I have bought and I think I will be buying it next year as well.

Beautiful Garden Planner
This is the perfect planner for my garden this year. There’s loads of room to write and draw, absolutely gorgeous illustrations on every page. There’s a section for everything, truly inspirational. Can’t say how pleased I am, in fact I’ve bought another for my most treasured friend as a birthday gift. Just one other thing, it has no dates, just months, so you can start using it any time of the year!Thankyou so much!
