If you have possibly a 2nd bathroom you could take the door off as I did for clearance. That gives you roughly another 1-3/8". I bought a shower rod, rings and used a cheap shower curtain to act as a replacement door. My bathroom was laid out so that was possible and with a towel bar close I just used a bungee cord to hold the curtain back. I also bought a 60" door jam protector, cut them in half so I had 2 30" pairs and used 1 pair to protect the jams. I have used them for a year and still have the 2nd set to use if the get damaged bad. It's not a WC for an individual to use on their own but so great for a care giver to use for their patient. It's lightweight (easy on the back) making it easy to fold up and put in the trunk. Footrests are easily attached and detached (lock in place). The toe 'ledge' at he back allows gentle tipping of the chair to easily get over bumps. The safety belts make my friend feel more secure. Hand brakes work extremely well. Does not budge when in locked position. That has no storage bag/compartment is the only thing I'd change about it. From a different company I ordered an attachable bag for the back of the chair for storage.
