I first tried the desert sage & sweet grass because that was the most similar looking to the sage I've bought in the past. I've purchased a few brands now and both the prior ones never stayed lit. The smell would be nice, but it was annoying to constantly watch it and keep relighting the things. Reviews on those had been mixed with the lower stars indicating my same issue. So I decided to give this packaged bundle a try because two of three look fairly loosely packed so enough air can get in between the leaves so it'll stay lit as long as I want.Like I said, I tried the desert sage first because it looked the least likely to preform well since it was similarly dense like the other brands. Much to my delight, it actually BURNS! Even though it's packed! It kept going for over an hr & I had to put it out by completely covering it with a glass storage container. Perhaps the addition of the sweetgrass is contributing to the success of keeping it lit, not sure, but I am so thrilled to have this sampler and have the sage stay lit.I was able to move this desert sage from room to room, focusing on my kitchen and bathroom: notorious germ havens (especially with kiddos). Hopefully it'll help kill off any bacteria and bugs like it's been shown to do because these kids are bringing every sort of illness home and I clearly need to amp up my preventative measures in every way possible.I have now tried the sweet smelling Palo Santo now too because we are having guests over for the holidays. Some of them have very different political views and others have a tendency to be very negative in general. I am burning the Palo Santo to try to clear the air before anyone even comes over, and will burn it again after they leave so hopefully everyone can maintain a joyful holiday spirit despite our challenging personality differences. The wood smells amazing along with our Christmas tree & the spiced oranges we have on it. A neighbor came over and commented that even our porch smell reminds her of her grandfather's house and makes the space feel very welcoming. So here's hoping that the positive vibe remains. ...and I've killed off any bacteria at the least :)I'm thrilled with this set and recommend it to anyone starting out with smudging -like me- who wants to sample different materials and find what they personally enjoy the most. I have liked ALL of them honestly. Made a few bundles with our meager harvest but wssnt cutting it. Im addicted to smudging now. Glad i went with this companies. The palo santo smells a bit pepperminty(to me anyways ive seen others say citrusy.) And burns nicely and lasts a while. The big sage i just lit and wow, nice plumes of smoke and even burn. Seems like it burns slowly too. The smaller one same except maybe less smoke, obviously though there is less sage lol. I forgot the kit came with selenite so i was pretty stoked haha. Nice part of the kit though really. Great for starting out i bet. I didnt have any and really wanted some for a while so was nice to get a piece with the kit to tide me over.Love the sweetgrass but didnt burn so evenly, maybe been my lighting though?? And some of the round stems stuck out a bit more bc they didnt burn. No big deal though really. Had a info card too on selenite and i think a simple saging brochureLove the kit would be great gift. I ended up opening it and read the information that was enclosed which explained the different sticks and what they are used for which is a great touch to complete this set. So far I haven't tried them all which is why it is taking so long for me to write this review. I did use the Sage and Palo Santo stick since I am in the process of remodeling the house (going on 6 months of this) and at this point I can feel stress in the air and it feels like a very negative energy walking in the door. I wanted to clean it and needed to take a few days to heal myself (kept the crystal nearby). I had no problem when using the Palo Santo stick but the Sage had to be re-lit quite often. At first I thought there was something wrong with the stick but there wasn't, I think it was just me not letting the flame take long enough before blowing it. After the third time of re-lighting it, I let the flame really get going before I blew it out and this time I had no problem. (I also didn't trim the end before using this stick which may be another reason. Then again, I don't remember reading to do this for these sticks). Anyways, I had done this in the morning and even the following day I could still smell the sage when I walked into the house (even over the paint smell) so it is a nice lingering sage. As I said, I haven't tried the rest yet but I suspect they will be just as good as what I did use. Once I use them, if I have any problems I will update this review but for now I am posting it based on the appearance, information (nice touch), the crystal, and the Palo Santo stick.
