I bought this item to be a gift but I had to return it. It was low quality and it didn't even have a box. It just came in a plastic bag.

no instructions , poorly made kit makes ok model but not for beginners

there is no way the boards will make the bend to conform to the hull without cracking. Total junk. I definitely will never try this brand again.

Do not buy this it’s so bad no instructions and the pieces are very bad quality made out of cheap materials

It’s a great kit, things fit, looks good. It would be a challenge for first time builders, having all the tools is a help. Build the Harvey first, then tackle this one.

I've been building ship models for years so when I saw this kit for this price I was very skeptical but I thought for that price what the hell, it'll be a nice little project to keep me busy in between larger projects. Turns out it wasn't even that; there are so many things wrong with this kit it's not even worth $20 (+shipping). The directions consist of pictures with numbers, no text, and many of the numbers are hard to read because the sheet is a copy of a copy. Turns out that doesn't really matter though because many of the numbers on the directions didn't match the numbers on the parts and there were other parts on the sheets that weren't represented on the directions at all! Also, the wood is very thin and very cheap and a lot of the parts break if you even try to trim or sand them even lightly which is necessary because many don't fit properly. Some parts actually broke while I was trying to remove them from the parts sheets. And the directions, what there is of them, do not show how to rig the ship with or without sails. This wouldn't have been a problem for me because I've rigged a lot of ship models but for an inexperienced or first time builder it would be a major issue. The kit also did not include all the parts necessary to rig it even if you know how, there were no rails to attach to the outside of the hull for deadeyes to anchor ratlines or rigging lines. Turns out this didn't end up to be an issue for me because I didn't get that far; after having numerous parts break or just not fit, and realizing that I was missing a lot of parts I decided it wasn't worth my time or aggravation to build what would likely end up being a crappy looking model. The half finished kit went into the trash and I moved on to a more expensive but competently produced kit that is worth the time and effort. Don't bother with this kit, you really do get what you pay for.
