Can you use the gas and the charcoal at the same time please?

Depends which model, as despite the other answers you technically can. On the 440 which is the bigger one, the coal tray comes in 2 halves, so you could have one side charcoal and one side gas, unlike the 3 burner which the coal tray covers the whole thing.

What is the dangling metal chain for? What side does it go on? It's not mentioned in the instructions.

You can put a match in the dangling metal chain and light the barbecue via the hole above it if the ignition should ever fail. Please never light the barbecue from above the fire box.

Can anyone tell me the height of the cooking area off and shelves above ground level?
