Philips Gogear SA4VBE04KN/12 Vibe 4GB MP4/MP3 Video Player

My son wanted an MP3 player as he's just starting to enjoy music, in case it proved to be a short-term fad I didn't want to splash out hundreds on an ipod so I had a look round at the other branded MP3 players. Philips are a good brand who've been around for many years now so I didn't feel this purchase would be a gamble. The build quality is great as is the quality of the sound, my son loves it and it's forever in use. If you're looking for a reasonably priced MP3 player then look no further than this little beauty.

The Philips software is terrible and pointless, but you can just use the thing as an external drive and copy tracks across. Then you are faced with the menus, which are not well designed, and you can list the tracks either alphabetically or in folders - but when you play one, that is that. You can skip at random, but you can't automatically play all the tracks in a folder, or run down the list, which even my £5.99 mobile phone can do. The sound quality from the supplied in-ear speakers is OK: much better than a mobile, no-where near as good as decent hi-fi. That's what you'd expect. Good enough for listening to tracks on the train or bus, too limiting to actually enjoy Classical music. The player itself is proportioned inconveniently. You will want the clip that Philips sell at far too high a price in order to clip it to a shirt pocket or something, because the player is slippery and too large to balance or absently hold in your hand while you do other things. There is not much else to say. Volume could go a bit higher (but doesn't), battery lasts fairly well, charges reasonably quickly - but through a mini-USB socket; the lead supplied is USB-mini-USB and so you charge it from your laptop or universal charger. If you don't have a charger you'll need to buy one. Good Value? Not really. But given that a lot of these players just stop after a few weeks, and this one hasn't, it may be a reasonable choice. I bought it as a present and I use it myself; it is OK. That's all - OK, a bit overpriced and with poor menus and software. Typical Philips, then.

Same problem as Amethyst 77. Unfortunately. if you use Folder View the albums or folders are listed in the order in which they have been added. If you want them listed alphabetically you have to prepare all the folders in advance and then add them one by one (beginning with Albéniz and ending with Zemlinsky, for example). I may have missed something, in which case I would be grateful if somebody would enlighten me. Otherwise the player is very good.

This is a present for our grandson who is seriously mentally disabled. He loves music and apparently understands the rhythm and the musical style. It was very easy to load with music which I had previously loaded into Windows Media Player form CD's. Once loaded, easy to select from various categories on the Gogear player.

Excellent mp3 player. Good sound options as well. What really interests me is how it got here in only 5 days?...

This MP3 player will not play album tracks in the correct order; instead it insists on playing them alphabetically. As a result it is close to useless. An online search turns up some extremely fiddly ways of solving the problem, usually involving downloading commercial file-organising software. This is ridiculous. If I wanted to spend a lot of time in front of a computer, I wouldn't buy an MP3 player--I'd just buy a pair of headphones. Buy some other brand instead.

Was bought for my son. He loves it. The battery lasts a lot longer than any of the other MP3 players he’s had before.

Per le normative internazionali il livello audio in uscita dei lettori mp3/4 è spesso esageratamente basso. Questo lettore invece dispone di un volume elevabile a consenso. Non diventa altissimo ma sicuramente superiore alla media. Una geniale trovata per superare le barriere di normative paternalistiche (per i legislatori europei siamo tutti bambini). Grafica chiara e ben utilizzabile. Si ricarica velocemente e dura parecchio. Un lettore semplice, leggero, efficace, intelligente, con prezzo adeguato e a mio parere anche di bel design.

Un seul gros défaut: j'ai l'impression que Phillips en a arrêté la fabrication. Le mien est venu d'Allemagne !!! Si vous en trouvez un quelque part, sautez dessus !

Funciona bien y es muy intuitivo. La batería dura muchísimo. Lo unico que no me gustan son los auriculares que dudo mucho que sean de la marca philips, no tienen marca y son muy simples solo plástico sin membrana.

Nach 12 Stunden hören und 6 Resets, weil ich dachte , das Gerät will mir nicht gehorchen, kam ich darauf , dass bestimmte Funktionen manchmal einen Doppelklick erfordern, wie Play , Pause oder das wechseln in eine höhere Ebene über Return. Hieran wäre ich fast verzweifelt. Hätte man eine ordentliche Bedienungsanleitung, anstelle einiger kleiner Faltblätter in mehreren Sprachen beigelegt, hätte ich nicht an Philips zweifeln brauchen. Die Grundlautstärke maximal 21 lässt sich bis auf 31 hochfahren, wenn man auf Lautstärke höher geht, und man dann mit der gleichen Taste auf Ja geht, dass man bereit ist sich das Gehör zu schädigen.Allerdings wird die Volume-Begrenzung bei jedem herunterfahren wieder heruntergestellt. Außerdem mehr manchmal mölich, dann wieder nicht. Safesound lässt sich zwar deaktivieren, dadurch verschwindet das Grüne Symbol aus dem Display, aber die Sicherheitsabfrage beim Erhöhen der Lautstärke bleibt,übrigens auch, wenn man die Kindersicherung aktiviert und eine höhere maximale Lautstärke vorgibt. Vorsicht, bei Versuchen, die Kindersicherung zu aktivieren, bleibt eine geringe Volume-Einstellung immer erhalten, auch durch An- und Ausschalten bzw. einen Reset lässt die Grundlautstärke nicht wieder herstellen. Erst wenn über das Feld "Einstellungen" gegangen wird, kann man die Lautstärke mit der Kindersicherung wieder erhöhen.Warum Philips diesen Weg gegangen ist, lässt sich nur über das Klageverhalten in den USA erklären. Ich habe Fullsound deaktiviert(Kreissymbol verschwindet),Equalizer auf Benutzerdefiniert und alle Fader auf Max., so gefällt mir der Sound noch besser.(EQ-Symbol erscheint). Über Thema im Bereich"Einstellungen":Display lässt sich die Farbe des Titels und anderer Symbole ändern. Leider lässt die Wahl Bildschirmschoner:keine,trotzdem das Display alle 5 Minuten ausgehen. Superscroll möchte ich noch erwähnen , hier wird über dem Menue ein Buchstabe anzeigt, in dessen Bereich der Scroll sich befindet. Das Aufladen,ca. 2 1/2 h, wird in der Anzeige erst sichtbar, wenn man den Player nach dem Anschließen an das Ladegerät wieder ausschaltet, ist das Gerät voll geladen , wird dies angezeigt. Ein schönes Feature ist die Genre-Funktion, hier wird nach speziellen Musikrichtungen sortiert,ca.25. Bei Electronica fand das Gerät z.B. Stücke wie Marusha "Deep" und ähnliches (natürlich weil ich's draufgespielt hatte). Zur Laufzeit: Ich schätze bei etwas angehobener Lautstärke 8-10 h, Display oft an,Lautstärke erhöht. Das Aufspielen von 330 Songs in ca.10min mit dem Windows Media Player lief rei- bungslos, mein Avira-Virenscanner verhinderte über einen Block das Starten der Philips-Software "Songbird", was mir zupass kam. Die Software von Philips ist im übrigen eine Katastrophe, bloss nicht herunterladen.Brachte den WMP durcheinander. Wenn man den Player mit dem Computer verbindet und sich bei Philips registriert, verschwindet die Aufforderung dazu aus dem Display. Die Dateien auf dem Player lassen sich auch ohne weiteres vom Computer aus löschen.Hierbei hat mein Odys den Geist aufgegeben. Mit dem Programm MP3Tag(Google) lassen sich eigene MP3`s auch mit Cover versehen. Eins möchte ich noch erwähnen , dass der Mp3-Player 4GB so geliefert wird,dass man nur 3,4 GB verwenden kann, außerdem braucht die Datenbank 100 MB.Reset ist immer möglich, Firmware wird aus dem Back-Up erneuert. Dieses Gerät ist auf jeden Fall sein Geld wert,5 Funktionen auf einer Taste,sind ein bischen viel,dann einfach Dop- pelclick probieren. MfG
