I don’t cook often, but when I do, I like things to be easy. While my current kitchen set, Henckel’s Twin signature, is quite good, the knives do lose their sharpness after a couple of uses, and I find it annoying to have to constantly sharpen them.I bought this knife on a whim, and so far it has far outperformed any kitchen knife I’ve ever had. I wanted to put it under stress during the 30 day prime return window, and have used it almost daily. It’s performed great, and remains very sharp with only occasional honing. It also makes cooking easier, as I can use it for multiple purposes (cutting squash, preparing salads, filleting meats) without having to take out a separate knife for every application. This knife is perfectly balanced, and feels solid in my hand.The Four Mogils knife is also a great conversation piece when company is over; everyone loves the design. Not sure how much this actually adds to the performance of the knife, but it’s definitely cool and modern looking. The wood cover doubles as a cutting board, and I look forward to taking it camping in the spring.This knife is well priced for what it offers. More importantly, it makes cooking both easier and way more enjoyable. I have a whole set of J.A. Henkels, but this one is way sharper and more comfortable so I always reach for it first! Really awesome knife.I love to cook and I'm super excited about this knife! It comes in a beautiful bamboo box that you can store the knife in and/or use as a cutting board itself! The top and the bottom of the box adhere side by side with high powered magnets to create a bigger surface area to cut. I think this is so smart and efficient. There are many times when I travel with a dish that I make and need to do final touches at my destination. This storage box/cutting board feature will really make this process easy. The knife itself is a BEAUTY! It has this really cool design on the blade itself and the handle is so comfortable in my hand. Most importantly, it is very very sharp! I made a potato dish this morning where I typically use a mandolin to get the slices as thin as possible. I didn't need the mandolin because this knife allowed me so much precision. Recently, in the past year, I have gotten into cooking more and it's been a great joy in my life. When I received this knife, I didn't know what to expect. I know that my favorite chefs always say that a "good knife" makes a difference. I thought... how *different* could it be? Well, let me tell you: this Four Mogils chef's knife has changed EVERYTHING. In addition to being beautifully packaged in its wood storage that doubles as a cutting board, it's simply divine when it comes to food prep. It is so easy to make quick and precise cuts. I feel like a real celebrity chef using it! I'll admit that I was suspicious of the price, but as a whole package: the gorgeous knife blade and handle, the rustic wood storage/cutting board (which has magnets inside so that your knife stays in place), makes it worth it. I am looking forward to owning this knife for a long time.
