Mel Bay Children's Guitar Method, Vol. 1 Paperback – January 1, 1982

I teach guitar lessons, and I use this book to get my youngest students started. This book introduces chords, rhythm, and standard notation, with traditional songs the children enjoy. There is one thing I would like to see added to this book: A table of contents! It would be a real time saver if this book included a list of the songs with their page numbers.

This is my favorite book to use with beginning guitar students. It teaches notes and chords, doesn't go too quickly, but doesn't drag. Lots of great songs, many with words. It's appropriate for all ages of kids... even up to middle school.

I didn't realize that this was a different version of this guitar book that I've been using with young students for years. The photos of the guitarist's hands are not clear, and instead of the cute artwork in color for each song, now there are some black and white graphics that aren't always easy to figure out. There was no indication on the book that it was a different version, as the front of the book is the exact same. As soon as I run out of these, I will not be using them again.

Music if the Point sent me this book and it is the best book possible. The CD/DVD combo book is VERY useful in practicing as well.

We bought this when our (then) 6 year old son began taking guitar lessons. He enjoyed this much more than the exercises given by the teacher. Elements taught incrementally with plenty of practice exercises and enough silliness to keep young children interested.

This is the best book that I've found to teach beginning guitar! It is easy to use and the students get a real sense of accomplishment in every lesson. Great product; fast shipping! A+

I was expecting the book to arrive with it's advertised accompanying CD but it arrived without. The book is fine but would certainly be enhanced by the CD. Even the replacement sent by Amazon arrived without a CD. Ever so slightly disappointed.

I was told by my sons guitar teacher to purchase this book for my sons lessons. My son certainly finds it an easy book to follow
