Acetyl L-Carnitine 500 mg 100 Caps by Swanson Premium

Good product, I have been taking this product for over 10 years.

I purchased Swanson's version of Acetyl L-Carnitine because it was the least expensive. My supplements are very well calculated, but I take several; so if I can save money on some of them I try to. This product has been very effective for me. I use it for adrenal fatigue in conjunction with a B-complex and Pantothenic Acid. This trio has allowed me to get off of the adrenal supplement I was taking, an animal-based gland extract. The gland extract is excellent but this new route gives my adrenals the tools it needs to function better, instead of just adding in what was lacking. It feels great after being on adrenals for years to be able to take the building blocks instead and to see my glands function BETTER than they were on the extract. I feel the best now I've felt in years. Super thankful for this added improvement. The low cost of this supplement seems not to affect its quality.

I purchased this product after researching online and finding that acetyl l-carnitine has shown positive results in treating Peyronie's disease. If you know what that is (and I won't get into the graphic details here), then you know how difficult it is to find a reliable non-surgical treatment for it. The product label suggests 1 - 2 capsules daily as a supplement, but the suggested dosage for Peyronie's treatment is 1500 mg so I take one capsule in the morning, one before dinner and one at bedtime. While it doesn't reverse the symptoms of Peyronie's, it does appear to have halted the progress and I've experienced significant relief from the pain associated with it. And while acetyl l-carnitine is promoted as improving alertness, I find that my bedtime dose doesn't interfere with my sleep at all. I give this product 4 stars rather than 5 because, while it does what I wanted, I don't experience the improvement in mental clarity that others claim to get. But I'm happy enough with my results that I just bought a fresh supply from the same manufacturer.

These will be a part of my regimen forever! I heard these are good for impulsive disorders such as trich, and boy is that true! So true that if I take at a different time of day I notice my impulses come back. By week 2 I started taking 2 a day. My eyebrows (that’s the hair I pulled) are coming back so nice and it feels so good to not be pulling again!

I have been taking L-Carnitine for almost a month now. I must be honest and say that I have not observed any noticeable difference in the way I feel. As with most other supplements, however (amino acids included), additional time may be required for the effects to start to kick in. I plan on reordering once I have gone through the bottle as I trust Swanson products. I have not experienced any undesirable side effects.***If you prefer to open the capsules and take the contents that way, be aware of the unpleasant taste.
