The red strip covers the blade. When delivered even the blade was placed in the handle the wrong way for extra protection as it’s very sharpe. I have found this scraper to be robust and entirely suited to scraping old floor tile adhesive from a concrete floor. Care should be taken where underlying surfaces are pitted or uneven, with a sharp blade it is easy to dig in and damage underlying surfaces. **Q: Can this remove paint from concrete steps** A: If the concrete was smooth yes I don’t see why not, you may have to make the paint a little wet or use some paint stripper to make it a little easier to scrape though, it’s a fab scraper ! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great little scraper *by S***O on 1 January 2018* I bought this to remove hardened glue holding carpet grippers on a concrete floor. At first I thought the size might not be big enough to give some leverage, I was wrong though. This scrapper worked very well, enough elbow grease and the job was done in no time. I used just 1 blade for two rooms and even tackled the odd bits and bumps of hardened mud on the concrete, while the blade had enough life for some more work there are plenty of spares in the pack.
