The original unit that was fitted in the shower unit lasted many years. This one lasted maybe 6 months before it started to leak (shower dripped constantly) and failed completely after a few more weeks. When I took it out to replace it you could see that the plastic internals had completely disintegrated. Looks like it's made of very poor quality plastic. Sadly I think this is actually made by the original manufacturer - so it looks like they've switched to a cheaper plastic.
