You must have a breaking system if flat towing in most states. Dedicated systems are difficult to install and less adaptable to various vehicles. This one is an "investment" ($$), but it is easy to use. Works great and offers that peace of mind that you have a break away system should the worst occur. Nice to be able to stow it in the RV when not using it. Wireless install is the only way to go. Sure you have to run wires for the break away and mount the key, but that is not too bad. Done in 30 minutes r so. So simple to use. Push to power on. Push to set adjustment and you are ready. Helps the RV slowing with the added load. Works nicely out of the box.

Right out of the box this worked just fine, Bit hard to get set up, but after using it the adjustment are really finicky. It works really well and the blue tooth remove that in the motor home controls and shows what going on in the jeep, but it's just really hard to get it set up just right. Maybe a bit more practice! Maybe some more detailed examples on how to set it up in the jeep would be helpful. After using it a few more times over the travel season! There is a bit of a trick to getting it to work consistently. Once you learn exactly how it is to be positioned, it works very well. It is very unforgiving for placement or mis-alignment. Other than that, it works great. I added a couple stars because it really is a good product, its just relies on good practices from the user.

Blue Ox Patriot brake assist unit is clearly a quality unit and once installed works very well. I am especially impressed with the smooth braking. Set unit, for first run, at "3" - too light - moved to "4" and we're good to go. Penetrating the firewall was dicey and I spent several hours finding and drilling a 1/2" hole and adding a rubber groment. Working under the dash was VERY tight - you need to remove hood hinge and finish panel on a 2011 Frod Ranger. I'm probably a good shade tree mechanic and for me tight quarters was the biggest problem.

I had a Roadmaster Even brake that failed after 5 years. I was going to buy another Even brake but, decided to try a blue ox patriot brake. This was so much lighter, and a lot easier to set up than the even brake. Most of all I can put the remote monitor in the dash of my 34 feet motor home. The Roadmaster remote monitor, I have to leave it at the back of my MH because it would not communicate with the even brake in the towed vehicle. I would have rated it 5 star but I only has 1 time use.

It was defective on arrival but I didn't know it. Was inconsistent to setup pushing the setup button repeatedly, sometimes 20 times and give up. Used another one that worked first time everything. Sent in to blue ox and then mine worked first time everything. Five stars now!

Excellent product! Towing our truck to our class c was new to us and we were nervous about everything but this is easy to install and works perfectly. Easy to take out, too.

I purchased this over a Brake Buddy for its compactness and features. Unfortunately, the driver’s seat adjustment in my 2016 Jeep Patriot is a bar in the front below the seat cushion. When the brake is applied, it pushes the bar into the open position and the seat slides back. I’m still working on a solution but additional equipment will negate any advantage of the smaller device.

Seems lighter than my old one. This is a brand new one. Operation seems just as expected. Going back-and-forth between remote control and the rig and the brake and the toad is not something I’m used to.

Only issue is the lack of feet in the front.
