Well, what can you say? The UTTER Dog's B's. Wow, what a beautiful thing! We have a new induction hob which boils the water in this kettle fantastically fast. The wide "bottom" heats the water very quickly. It's balanced and beautiful. Whistle works great too. A real cuty and worth the extra. You get over a price but...

We had 2 Alessi electric kettles in the past, so thought we would try the one suitable for an induction hob. It boils quickly although retains the heat at the base for some time. The only niggle , the spout whistle was very stiff to start with but it is now easier to push on

Update: The kettle is a poor quality product dressed in rich man’s clothes. I’ve had this kettle a month now and steam comes out of the lid, the whistle sounds like a smoker on 20 a day and all of the other complaints below. I am actually very angry that designers like Alessi are allowed to get away with producing tat like this and selling it for so much money. He saw us coming! My advice, if you’re going to spend a fortune on a kettle, get yourself a bespoke kettle. There are lots of smithy’ out their that would and do make kettles and you will be keeping these dying crafts alive. Forget this piece of tat and lining the pockets of “designers”. My new star rating is 1. Let’s be honest here, you’re paying for a piece of art rather than a practical piece of kitchen equipment. Don’t get me wrong if this kettle didn’t function as a kettle it would have been sent back by now. However it’s a lot of money to throw at a kettle when it doesn’t feel expensive. It’s very lightweight and the whistle is plastic (I can understand the practical need for safety over quality but come on plastic) The whistle is a dragon not a T-Rex (t-Rex don’t have wings and the pun doesn’t work). The whistle is stiff to insert and remove and the angle needs to be just so in order to push it in, but with a wiggle you get the hang of it. The kettle boils quickly and compared to an electric kettle your tea will be boiling hot not just hot. I was surprised how cool I had been drinking my tea until I switched to a job kettle. All in all despite my nit picking I love this kettle, it makes me happy. It looks good and it’s comfortable to hold. It boils water and aids a great cup of tea. 5 stars would have been awarded if the dragon wasn’t plastic.

Quick to boil, good looks as expected, but Alessi, please improve the whistle insert with a quality material as the plastic used feels very cheap, not sure if the finish will go before it breaks! Would be better re-designed for a mechanism more like the classic dome kettle with lever operated spout, then whatever design whistle could be brass and last as long as our original (23yrs), had to change as now using induction. Works very well on induction and gas though.

Well made. Looks great. Overpriced but we love it.

Great kettle not electric you put on hob gas put two cups of water and boils in no time quicker than electric and certainly much cheaper

It sits right peacefully on top of my new home’s cooktop while it stands out and looks awesome. Very iconic design that I have had it in my wish list for years until the time has come as my new home being ready for it. Can’t take my eyes off it whenever I pass by. Works just as it’s supposed

Is the one my Mum wanted despite the price tag. So she's happy, I'm happy. Her last one which was the same lasted for years until the misadventure of which we do not speak. So the price over many years maybe no so bad after all. Sometimes quality is expensive.

Dinosaur melted inside the kettle pouring stem!

Beautiful. We’ve had it for more than 2 years and most likely will use this every day for life. We have an induction top and this works perfectly
