Whenever I feel the usual tingling sensation on my lips(usually on a day that my body feels weak, due to lack of sleep/hard gym training/feeling under the weather), I use it 2-3 consecutive times on the affected spot and then proceed using one of the "over the counter" creams(ie zovirax, which on its own usually cannot prevent it from appearing a few minutes later). I consistently get no cold sores at all this way. It cannot be just a coincidence and I doubt it's just the placebo effect. I've had the device for a few months now and I am pretty sure it prevented cold sores from appearing at least 5-6 times till now. The pain doesn't seem that bad to me and it only lasts 2-3sec anyway. I am very happy with the product. I won't give a 5-star rating just because of the manufacturing quality. It's not sturdy/robust at all for it's price(it's just a piece of plastic with a ceramic point and the circuit inside it is very simple/cheap to make). If it won't fail for the next 2-3 years, then money well spend.
