The Weirdest, Most Wonderful Laptop I’ve Ever Owned
When I first picked this thing up, I was convinced it was a tiny, very confused laptop. No power button. No charging port. No place for batteries. I turned it sideways. I turned it upside down. I even looked for a USB-C port like some kind of hope-filled gremlin. Nothing. Just a red frame, two knobs, and a very serious-looking grey screen. “Maybe it’s solar?” I thought. I held it under a lamp. Still nothing. Then, in a moment of pure experimental desperation, I turned one of the little white knobs. The line appeared. A single, glorious, thin little line, marching confidently across the screen like it owned the place. I froze. Turned the other knob. The line moved up. I gasped. I am not exaggerating when I say it felt like discovering fire. Suddenly I realized: This isn’t a dead tablet. This isn’t a broken laptop. This is some kind of… magic drawing machine that runs entirely on stubbornness and wrist strength. I twisted and turned the knobs like I was cracking a safe. Slowly—very slowly—I managed to draw something that sort of resembled… a mailbox. A very drunk mailbox. Maybe a mailbox that had a rough week. But I made it. And then came the real witchcraft. I shook it. Just a little. The mailbox… vanished. GONE. No delete key. No backspace. No “Are you sure you want to clear this drawing?” warning. Just poof—instant fresh screen. So I did what any rational adult would do: I drew the mailbox again. And shook it away. Again. And again. Every time, the same little thrill: Look what I made! followed by Look what I erased! Absolute primitive joy. By the end of the day I had drawn: A sort-of square house A slightly squashed sun Something that might one day grow up to be a stick figure And, of course, at least 47 mailboxes No batteries. No chargers. No Wi-Fi. Just knobs, lines, and the kind of satisfaction you forget screens can give without notifications. This is officially my new favorite “laptop.” It does not check email. It does not browse the web. But it does make me feel like a kid discovering a secret gadget from another dimension. Highly recommend—for kids, for adults, and for anyone who’s ever tried to plug in an Etch A Sketch and then realized… the magic was there the whole time.

Blast from the Past! Take a vacation to your second childhood!
Such a fabulous blast from the past! I got this for my husband's 70th birthday... we love revisiting the fun activities of our childhood. In addition to this Etch-A-Sketch, we've also been having a lot of fun out in our pasture flying TOMI kites from T&D here on Amazon... we just walk out back and fly them for hours. It's a great way to enjoy fresh air and sunshine and just calm our minds down. I also recently got a pony... a big childhood dream! Life is GOOD! We enjoy going to the local festivals and talking with the 4-H'ers and discovering that children have not changed... But I digress! Sorry!!! This Etch-A-Sketch was a huge hit and a complete surprise for my husband's birthday! His face lit up just as it did when he got his first one for Christmas as a young boy! We both enjoy sitting at our desks in the morning watching the news and drinking coffee... it's also the perfect time to "Sketch", too! I take photos of his "art" and keep them in an album on the computer because I remember how sad we'd always be when we had to erase our amazing works of art. I've already ordered a second one for his brother... because I know that as soon as he sees this one, he will want one, too... and I don't want any trouble!!!! (I had to order another kite for him, too.) The Etch-A-Sketch comes beautifully displayed in brightly colored cardboard... Nicely packaged! No batteries are needed, it's ready to go! I highly recommend this for children AND adults! It may be a "toy" but it makes you use your mind and think and plan. It's just as much fun the second time around today at our age as it was when it first hit our toy market here in the USA in 1960 (thank you for this info, Wikipedia). You really have to use your brain, and it's FUN!!! Siblings will compete to out-do each other, too, so you better get one for each child. (Trust me.) Everyone should enjoy their childhood, regardless of whether it's their first or second one! :) And BTW, if you want to get your kids OUTSIDE and you're interested in a really good kite, super-easy to fly and very beautiful... try Tomi Kites on Amazon... https://www.amazon.com/Tomi-Kite-Rainbow-Adults-Launch/dp/B01FVQDLQM/ref=lp_15476540011_1_1?srs=15476540011&ie=UTF8&qid=1522777016&sr=8-1 Have FUN!!!!
