Train to Busan [Blu-Ray] [Region Free] (English audio. English subtitles)

Really good film. The secret of these apocalyptic productions is to present characters who react in ways that are realistic to their characters. And that the characters are realistic. So the variety of the characters, from the homeless guy to the mother and daughter team, the selfish fund manager and the assertive father to be, and the quality of the lead actors and how they dealt with it, worked. The special effects were good, easily comparable to TWD and similar. The only slightly weak point was the CEO character, who was too much of a caricature. Well acted, but anyone worth their salt would have filled him in or thrown him to the wolves a lot quicker, once they realised his motivations. People do act oddly in times of crisis, who would believe that a bunch of overpaid and out of touch MP's would spend an afternoon dancing publicly, whilst we are on the brink of a world war, but it happens! But I think this movie is a great addition to the zombie and survivalist genre, fast-paced, with mostly sympathetic characters who you root for, and act in a way you hope you would in similar circumstances.

Train To Busan is a 2016 South Korean horror film. The flick was directed by Yeon Sang-Ho, produced by Lee Dong-ha and stars Gong Yoo, Ma Dong-Seok, Jung Yu-mi and many more. The story of the film is about a father and daughter, their relationship is on the rocks. To make up for lost time, the father takes the girl to see her mother for her birthday. Not long after they're on board, a suspiciously ill individual boards the train, dies and comes back as a rabid beast. It doesn't take long for all hell to break loose. For a two hour zombie movie, I thought this film was extremely well paced and very well written. Skimming over the story might make it sound like just another horror film, kind of Snakes On A Plane sort of thing. But there's been more creativity put into Train To Busan. The characters are all very interesting, we grow to sympathise or hate them and never once does the film drag. The wife and I got invested in the lead and support characters very quickly. The relationship between father and daughter was very good and very emotional. The action scenes are all extremely tense and very well thought out. The zombies/infected are pretty typical modern day zombies. They snarl, claw, run and bite like Justin Beiber fans. The make up effects and the way they're shot, it just looks great and does a great job of keeping you on your feet. The bluray for the film is absolutely stunning. I was genuinely surprised at how well the film has come out on high definition. The train sequences all look fantastic and even the outdoor sequences all look incredible. The image is crystal clear, extremely sharp and has plenty of colour. You'll see every scratch, spot of blood and bite mark the film has to offer. It's very well done. I also enjoyed the 5.1 surround sound. I felt that it had the right amount of separation and did a great job of scaring the crap out of us at the right times. I acquired this film for a fiver, it was on sale. It's safe to say that I would have been satisfied if I had purchased this full price. The film is intense, very fast and easy to watch. I loved every second of it, so did the old ball and chain. I highly recommend this one for your horror collection.

brilliant item

Great movie. Really nice, frightening premise that builds into a horror disaster movie with all the twists and turns that leave you wanting to pull the emergency stop. Strong characters; one or two of which you may grow rather fond of, just before they make that fatal mistake that leaves you both sad and angry at their carelessness. Well recommended. What can I say? South Korea in the house!

Absolutely amazing film need more like these

I rarely watch Korean movies, but after hearing about the hype of this movie, I can see why it is a success: such a superb cast, original plotline, (though there are elements of World War Z incorporated in this movie) And you start to root for your favourite characters. English subtitles provided which helps a load. A thrill from start to end, loads of jumps and unexpected moments from the opening of this movie. I congratulate the cast and crew on producing this movie, my only regret is that there won't be a sequel to this movie, or if there is, it has yet to be announced. Still one can entertain themselves in its animated Prequel Seoul Station (to which I will review at a later date). Movie aside, the shipping of this product came in prestige packaging, carefully delivered. My money did not go to waste when it came to by this DVD. Delivery took three days as promised, but that may vary depending on where one lives and what delivery mode they use. All in all a good purchase made by Amazon.

I'm a big fan of the zombie genre-from the classics by George A Romero to 'The Walking Dead' and now 'Train To Busan' (TTB hereafter) has been added to that illustrious list after I read a positive film review in Big Issue North magazine. Some people are put off by foreign films but you're really missing out if you're one of them because TTB is one of the best horror films I've seen in a long time and is right up there with other great foreign films such as 'Rec', 'Ils (Them)' and 'Let the right one in.' I knew the film was of high qualify after one of the opening scenes featuring a dead deer coming back-to-life, after being struck by a vehicle, and this sets the tone for the rest of the film. The main character is Seok-Woo-an office fund manager who is no longer with his wife because he's married to the job, and he has custody of his daughter Soo-an who is cared for by his mother whilst he's at work. Seok-Woo reluctantly agrees to take Soo-An to Busan on her birthday, so she can visit her mother, and they board a train to Busan (no surprises there!) where all hell breaks loose after an infected woman boards the train at the last moment before the doors close. The zombies featured in TTB are the fast-moving type of zombies featured in films such as '28 Days Later' and 'World War Z'. During the train journey it becomes clear from media reports that the virus has spread across South Korea however the outbreaks of violence are initially perceived to be civil unrest (riots.) Apparently Busan is the only safe place left and the film is a battle-for-survival on the train after many of the passengers become infected. Initially Seok-Woo sticks to his selfish ways and concentrates only on keeping himself and his daughter alive at the expense of other people, but it soon becomes clear the band of survivors need to work together if they have any hope of surviving and he joins forces with a homeless man, a man who is travelling with his pregnant wife and members of a high school baseball team. I'm no expert on cinematography but TTB is a terrifically crafted film which will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat throughout and there are a lot of surprises along the way. I enjoyed every minute of the film and fully intend to watch the animated prequel 'Seoul Station'. It's a must-watch for all fans of the zombie genre and horror fans in general.

Excelente edición de la película surcoreana más impactante de los últimos años y una de las mejores cintas de zombies que hemos visto en mucho tiempo. Como considero que en Amazon no se debe valorar la película sino el producto, diré que el steelbox de "Train to Busan" es sencillo pero muy elegante, y que además incluye dos cintas: La ya citada "Train to Busan" y "Seoul Station", su precuela animada. Por ponerle algún pero diría que en general no tienen apenas extras (aunque sí calidad de imagen, y MUCHA) pero cómo ver cine asiático por España es algo complicado tampoco me voy a quejar. Lo que sí que puede que quite las ganas a más de uno es saber qué "Seoul Station" únicamente está en VO, es decir, coreano con subtítulos en español. Para los que nos gusta la VO no es ningún problema, pero quizás alguno se lleve un chasco, pero bueno, creo que quién se compre esta edición va buscando más "Train to Busan" que su precuela animada que es, desde mi punto de vista, un añadido excelente. Recomendaría 100% su compra a los fans de la película y a quienes busquen una película de zombies que les devuelva la fe en el género.

Si no leen o entienden inglés no compren esta película. El anuncio dice que está doblada al español y al francés pero solo trae opción de audio en coreano y en inglés. Y solo trae subtítulos en inglés. Compré esta versión en 4K porque el Blu-ray tampoco traía subtítulos en español pero no sirvió de nada. La diferencia de imagen entre ambas versión no es tan notable aunque sí en la calidad del audio.

Great movie with English subtitles. Could happen in real life

I am truly astonished that I haven't read more about the quality of this release in 4K-UHD! In fact, whenever someone asks to see what the format can do for films, this is the one I choose to show them (unless they have an aversion to horror films). The amazing quality and creativity of this film had impressed me from the start. In fact, the first time that I saw it was on a Netflix disc rental some years ago. I loved the show so much that I was literally on my iPad ordering the Blu-ray copy while the end credits were still running! TRAIN TO BUSAN has an incredibly taut story along with some of the best character development I've seen in the genre. The 4K-UHD release is one of the best I have seen in that format. The image quality was so incredibly vivid throughout that it looks like it was made to be shown only that way. For those who have a large screen home theater with a sound system to complement it, the experience is exceptional. Even my friends who have seen it before were noticeably both impressed and emotionally immersed. If you are wondering if TRAIN TO BUSAN is worth buying again in 4K-UHD, my sincere advice is not to hesitate. It makes an amazing film even more powerful.
