The film is really good – The Queen was sick and only a magic flower could heal he, it was hidden for ages but the Queen soldier managed to find it and heal her. The Queen then gave birth to their daughter, who hair contained the magic power from the flower. An old woman broke into the castle and kidnapped Rapunzel as the magic power would make her young again. 17 years later and Rapunzel is about to turn 18, her wish is to see the floating lights but her mother has convinced her to stay inside the tower and never to leave until one day a guy called Flynn Rider breaks in and changes Rapunzel mind about everything. Another great adventure from Disney, very predictable and similar storyline from others but with a different twist. If you didn’t know you would easily guess that this is a Disney film (the magic, forests, etc I can see some similar to Frozen) but that does not mean I enjoyed it any less and to me Disney means high quality kids films) My children (3 and 4 ½) also enjoyed this film and we found parts of it really funny. The film stays true to the Disney classics with plenty of sing-a-long's, yet still possesses a captivating story, and characters who you can't help but love! Even so, this is in my opinion by far the best Disney movie and best animation for a long time. The story strays from the traditional Rapunzel story which my mother read to me as a child, but it did it in such a way that I really didn't mind, and even preferred the differences. There wasn't one character that I would change. Rapunzel with her naive, innocent nature, yet strong. Flynn with all his charm and the way he develops into the perfect guy by the end of the movie. Maximus (the horse) and his determination. Pascal's (the chameleon) protectiveness of Rapunzel and his courage. Even the bad guys are awesome! And I have to say, I loved the inkeeping with traditional Disney films by using green to show evil. With it's humour, action, and romance this is definitely one for all ages. And I say this as a 24 year old who loved it just as much her 60 year old parents, and 4 year old niece! Even my partner loved it and he isn't usually one for Disney films! A roller coaster of a movie which keeps you laughing all the way through, and couldn't give you a better connection to the characters if it tried. The detail in the animation makes it feel like you are watching real people when you see emotions cross their faces, giving no choice but to feel it with them. If not funnier! Take a look at the picture, sword-fighting horse, girl with ridiculously long hair wielded as a weapon (I laughed every time she walked across the screen and the hair just kept trailing behind her), a chameleon on top of the girl's head, and a roguish guy wielding a frying pan. Hilarious, right? Makes you giggle. Well, no matter how old you are, you are going to love Rapunzel, Maximus (the horse), Pascal (the chameleon), and Flynn. And you will laugh every few minutes for a few minutes. And when you're not laughing, you're sniggering or captivated. And yes, I was serious when I said all ages, as Disney have certainly kept the parents and older siblings (who would invariably be dragged to watch this) in mind. Some kids sat next to me, enjoyed the movie (don't know how much, but they didn't seem disappointed with it). My Mom, loved the movie. Sixteen year old me, loved the movie with one minor exception that could at most take half a star out of my rate, but that's not an option on Amazon. I walked out of the theatre certain of one thing, I want this movie on DVD. The songs aren't amazingly awesome, meaning Alan Menken (wrote the songs for Aladdin and many other classic Disney) let us down somewhat. But overall the songs aren't bad, very good, even.
