A Silent Voice - Standard Blu-Ray

There was a bit of trouble getting the item to me BUT this will be more about the movie and whether or not you should get it. ABSOLUTELY. I've only encountered this movie via commentaries as I was more intent on watching 'Your name' (another excellent movie) but I decided to purchase this blue-ray to give the movie a go. And it blew me away. It is such a touching story and very much a character analysis with a decently sized cast of characters brimming with personality, each one with their own take on life, insecurities and regrets. This movie was able to capture the pain and difficulty of not only someone struggling with a physical impairment but also mental ones. The movie has a very true to life grasp on depression and how one tries to cope with it. Honestly, a genuinely​ wonderful movie that is well worth your money, time and tears.

As I've been hearing, this Film is definitely on par with YOUR NAME for the best Anime Film of the year. Based on a 7 Volume Manga the story follows the Teenage growth a girl who's Deaf, and boy who bullies others for "fun" (As do others in the class) But one day it goes too far and he becomes the centre of attention for persecution and grows up with this remorse becoming an introvert. The film covers him coming to terms with his past and learning to be social again. For those after a Similar narrative the infamous Clannad (Inc After Story) is a good comparison. NOTE: The Manga features more events than the film and surpasses the ending but the film covers most of the important bases Also the Blu Ray Production run had a number of copies with a broken disk clasp (I've seen 9 so far, which seems to a production error) Fortunately a Replacement was sent and is fine

Most excellent. Japanese anime always so evocative. Beautiful storyline. Don’t mind the 1 star reviews; they pertain to technical properties of the disc playing with regards to region.

There are many other places I would have liked for the story to go but, in spite of some immersion breaking or melodramatic moments, the overall experience is impactful and engaging. Have rarely cared more for characters. Soundtrack and artwork are excellent. Both the dub and the sub are extremely high quality from a voice acting perspective. While I almost exclusively watch in sub format, this one is far better dubbed imo. The voice direction is on point and weighting feels more appropriate in parts. Localisation is done really well and some scenes that were originally jarring due to "anime-isms" or cultural differences are adapted extremely well.

I purchased this movie based on seeing it at a Showcase a few months back. It sent me on the feels train all throughout and so I chose to buy it based on that alone. I highly recommend this movie and the Bluray version as it is the best way to see such beauty on screen.

This is going to be a review of the case and extra content because I assume that, if you are thinking about buying this show, you've already seen it and have decided you liked it enough to purchase the physical copy. The case is nothing special. Holds the disc and nice artwork, can't ask for much else. This Blu-ray comes with a few extras, including but not limited to, music videos for a couple of the main songs in the film as well and interviews from the staff members. Overall it's a good but if you enjoy the film.

If you want lots of action and to turn your brain off then this is NOT the movie you are looking for. This is more a thought provoking piece about communicating, bullying and self worth and it is very uniquely animated to show how lonely someone can be made to feel and how a group of people can react to both delude and excuse themselves in regards to bullying an individual.

If you like movies like Your Name, Weathering with you or I want to Eat your pancreas you'll enjoy this one a lot too

Purchased the blue ray disc version as I liked the movie, but this is purely a review on seller as the disc being sold is region locked and the product description did not mention this. Whats more frustrating is that I cannot return it and get a refund. I guess i will keep it is a show piece now.

Was not able to play this movie.. ordered it in November for Christmas and got it in late January...very disappointing that it did not specify in the product details that it was region locked.

Great great movie! This movie takes you on a journey that is not only relatable to the viewer but also is very interesting and it never fails to keep you entertained and wanting more. If you are an anime fan then this is a must watch for you. Also this product is only in region B blu ray so it does require a multi region blu ray player, if you failed to notice this and bought it anyway then I'm sorry to say that its your fault for not reading and should not detract from this film's greatness
