Yes… it did have a mail in it, which made no sense whatsoever. Bless the woman who got poked by it, because of her I checked.Other than that, it is way longer than I expected and my goofy border collie boy thought it was a toy. So he would pick it up and carry it or try to throw it, when I wouldn’t get out the ball. It was adorable.Having learned previously, be careful of the line when the dog is running. I’ve had rope burn around my ankles from past long lines and also my hands… so I manage the dog from going around me and I use my feet to step on the line in a safe way, to stop him without getting pulled over from his speed.

Bought this to help with training my puppy. Didn't quite realise how long 30mtr is. I am using it but at times it is just a little too long and have to loop it around myself. It's made of good strong material but due to using it at the beach sand has gotten in the clasp mechanism causing it to become stiff and lock in the open or closed position causing a few problems but nothing WD40 Didn't sort out.

Unless you are 100% that this is what you require, do not buy this. I bought it for my rescue dog who, at present, will attack any other dog she sees and is too single-minded in this to even hear me attempting to recall her, not that she would anyway, so I bought this to train her at this while giving her a chance to actually run, as dogs should, out in fields away from other dogs. This worked great in principle BUT 30m. is just too long for practical use. Even when it is wound up, it makes a disc about 8 inches in diameter; this is too unwieldy as there is no easy way to hold it as your dog spools it out (and the handle is at the centre of the spool); and thereafter, it's a nightmare. Unwound, it spends most of the time on the ground because the dog is within 10m. meaning that you're either constantly gathering it up to prevent getting snagged on bushes or tufts of grass, getting dragged through puddles (or dog muck that all too many irresponsible dog owners fail to pick up) and getting tangled. It occurred to me that if, while she was more than 20m. away, my dog might stop to do a poo with some of the excess lead underneath her so that the poo will soil the lead and - hey presto - that's precisely what then happened. Happily I had a litre bottle of water and a dog towel with me to rinse it off but this is not something one wants to have to do once let alone have it as a constant possibility. When I finally found a place to sit down and wind the lead up, it too me nearly an hour because it was so twisted i.e. twisted like the old spiral telephone cords so that one has to twirl the lead in the opposite direction to the twist in order to be able to wind the lead up flat. It occurred to me while doing this that if it takes this long each time I use it and I use it every day, I'll lose 12 days of my life per year simply winding it back up. Hence I've not used it again. It was also quite filthy from being dragged around (and this was on a dry day). I am now thinking of making a reel like that on a fishing rod, which I could wear around my body on a harness. without such a thing, this lead is completely impractical. To think that I was initially thinking that 50m. would be what I needed!

I don't normally write product reviews, but this lead transformed mine and my boys daily life. Unfortunately due to a couple of scares and his poor recall, I have been relying on free run fields where I have the time and long walks the rest of the time. However, daily I wanted to allow him the freedom to run. This lead is fantastic, the length of it means he doesn't feel the limit of it and still gets to run as if off lead and it provides me with the peace of mind that I have hold of him if anything where to happen. I love this product and it's done wonders for me and my boy!

Best thing I've very brought for my dog. He can run and can't run away. Amazing.

Edited: As per the title, it tangled on first use and took 2 days to untangle. We have now used it and it worked well without tangling again. I have increased the score from 1 to 4 because we were initially very disappointed, but now that we have managed to use it multiple times without issue, we are happier with it.
