Product Description Memories features three amazing stories, each with its own unique style. The first film, "Magnetic Rose," details the action-packed exploits of space travellers responding to a distress call. "Stink Bomb" is a race against the clock to stop an unsuspecting chemist from spreading a biological menace. Otomo's own "Cannon Fodder" details a city constantly at war with an unknown enemy. The greatest a .com Although these three shorts were made to be shown together, they have little in common beside lavish production values. In "Magnetic Rose," a two-bit salvage rig answers an SOS in deep space from the palatial ship of a former opera diva. Koji Morimoto (Fly Peek!) blends shimmering visuals and snatches of Puccini, turning the derelict vessel into a lovely, fatal siren's song. Nerdy researcher Nobuo Tanaka takes an experimental drug and begins emitting a murderous gas in Tensai Okamura's (Kikaider) "Stink Bomb." Too silly to be scary, but too grim to be funny, it's the weakest entry. In "Cannon Fodder," Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) uses long tracking shots and an acid palette of khaki greens and faded reds to depict a militarized civilization where gargantuan machines dominate vapid little people. This brief but timely vision of the insanity of war suggests a mixture of 19th century Prussia and World War II Japan. (Rated PG-13: profanity, violence, tobacco and alcohol use) --Charles Solomon

Very enjoyable
I really enjoyed the first and third stories. The second was supposed to be comedy? But considering the actual impact of the protagonist actions, I couldn't find the humor. Overall, I'd say this was very worth the time.

2 out of 3 aint bad
Like many have said, the first one is the really gut wrenching and emotional, the second one is pretty much one long, kinda funny joke, and the last one felt like it was just about to get good, and then it ended abruptly. Still, I took a chance on this knowing nothing about it ahead of time and do not regret it.

imagination is beautiful
This is art in its finest form. The execution, presentation, and imagination, are on point with the budget. This blew away my mind and I hope yours as well. It has beautiful visuals as well as sound design. well done

The Lost Era of Anime
I first rented this dopamine drip of an anthology back when Blockbuster was still a thing. Then, when animated Japanese features were flush with lovingly crafted cel animation with just a dusting of CG glue to hold them together, ‘Memories,’ beautiful and terrifying, a standout even then, was quickly relegated to a memory among so many excellent titles. Revisiting it now, with a sharper presentation in blu-ray, i am reminded why I fell in love with anime. After more than a decade of a valid deluge of Western CG drivel and largely uninspired, rehashes from the East, ‘Memories’ stands out like a diamond in the rough, leaving me pining for the golden age of anime with seminal titles like ‘Akira,’ ‘Ghost in the Shell,’ ‘Macross,’ the Studio Gihbli masterpieces, the divisive, yet brilliant Evangelion series, to name but a few. With the recent Evangelion reboots and Studio Trigger knocking it out of the park with ‘Cyberpunk: Edgrunners,’ and even Oshi coming out of hibernation to revisit his seminal Akira, perhaps we are heading toward a renaissance of the wild stories and sublime art that inspired generations and spawned countless copies. ‘Memories’ still stands as a progenitor of that era and a feature no fan of anime or art in general should miss.

I don't think I'm breaking any new ground by saying how amazing this product is.No scratches, no dents, no problem with the DVD region. It works just fine.I don't regret buying this product, I do however regret that I didn't buy it sooner.
