Medieval Tapestries Coloring Book (Dover Fashion Coloring Book)

This is another splendid book in this range. As usual the pictures are well drawn, and each one has an informative caption. Great fun to do, and something a bit unusual. As there is no colour guide you can really let your imagination run wild as you colour, unlike the realistic scenes where you have to be a bit more sensible! Love it!

Lovely medieval drawings that have inspired a craft project! Lots of detail to colour too!

Lovely colouring book for an Adults. Something a little different than those ones seen in supermarkets. I would say this book is more suited to experienced colourists as the pictures are quite complicated. But dont let that put you off buy it and colour slow and carefully.

Lovely book and a good way of learning some history

This book contains beautiful designs.

There are a few gruesome images such as 'death on a pale horse" which made this an unsuitable gift.

Informative and unusual colouring book.

Ce livre a été offert à une personne appréciant beaucoup le Moyen-Âge et la tapisserie de la Dame à la Licorne. Il offre une multitude de morceaux de tapisserie à colorier (dont celle de la Dame à la Licorne), ce qui est vraiment intéressant si vous aimez ce style de motifs. Il y a plusieurs tapisseries représentées dans ce livre, pour éviter de se lasser. Pour la pratique : attention les pages sont plutôt fines, ce qui ne permet pas (selon moi) un coloriage aux feutres (sous peine de gâcher le coloriage suivant). Pour le prix, c'est un livre de coloriage vraiment étonnant, intéressant et qui ravira ceux qui aiment l'art de la tapisserie et/ou le Moyen-Âge.

Beautiful book, can't wait to start colouring!

This is definitely not your child's coloring book (or the coloring book you had as a child). From "Death on his Pale Horse" to "The Griffin Protects His Lady" there's something here for everyone, except maybe young children. It's a very detailed book. In fact if you have problems with your vision or hands -- you may want to pass. I have occasional hand troubles and will be skipping coloring in it on those days. It's also probably far too detailed for young children. Not to mention that death, unicorns in captivity, and Trojan war scenes may be a bit much for them (not that there's violence portrayed, there's not). You'll want to break out colored pencils or very fine tipped markers for most of these. There are some rare areas that are wide open, but for the most part these are highly detailed pieces that will test your coloring skills. An intro note in the book gives a brief history of tapestries and each page gives us the name / country of origin / year of the tapestry on the page we're coloring. A must for older kids who are too old for traditional coloring books and adults who love to color.

I love this book as I love the majority I do receive. The picture is page to page. The dark areas, the black are already darkened, but I think that is ok for this particular book. Some very intricate and beautiful designs. The paper is a good quality, not sure if it will bleed though as I have not used paint or darker lead on these. It has a little history about the tapestry. My first Marty Noble colouring book, and I like it.
