Hosted by renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, this family friendly series will explore how we discovered the laws of nature and found our coordinates in space and time. It will bring to life never-before-told stories of the heroic quest for knowledge and transport viewers to new worlds and across the universe for a vision of the cosmos on the grandest scale. Review: Adults and kids mesmerised - Walking With Stars and Scientists - This is an amazing series; think "Walking with Dinosaurs" does Stars and Scientists. It manages to explain science and the universe and the History of the Science while being utterly gripping. We four episodes in and so far we've learned about evolution, comets, killer asteroids, the mindblowing size and age of the universe and -- through animations -- the tragic fate of Giordano Bruno, Newton and Hooke's feud... It's not an anti-religious program per se -- Tyson is generally in awe of creation -- but it's all about "show me the evidence" and the scientific method. There's not much wriggle room for creationists and evolution deniers. This makes it a great way to inoculate your kids against that kind of thinking while at the same time enthuse them with reverence for the interconnected universe in which we live. Review: Cosmic - Although this is not quite as good as the original series. Neil deGrasse Tyson is certainly a worthy successor. This is not work for him. It's a hobby. It's clear he loves talking about this subject. There is though, rather an over-reliance on CGI, even though that's understandable condsidering it's about space, and maybe too much time in the ship of the imagination rather than just on the ground, on location with no effects, just talking science. Can someone tell him cosmos is pronounced 'CosMOSS', not 'CosMOWSE'. Just a bit of nit-picking. Anyway, a great series.

Everyone Should See This
Loved the series and now I can watch this whenever I want. All children should see this. All adults should see this. It's awe inspiring - though a little cheesy at times. Beautiful and wonderful storytelling. Really humanises the journey of science, which of course is also the journey of humanity. I saw the world differently after this series. I also own the soundtrack and it's gorgeous. Compulsory viewing in my opinion.

SIMPLY BRILLIANT
EXCELENT. Great DVD. My Tyson is engaging and easy to listen to and shows the level of interest that allows you to enjoy not only the presentation but the style of the presentation itself. Have the original COSMOS by Carl Sagan an DVD and still enjoy watching it. This is certainly a match for Mr Sagan's original series but considerable enhanced by the modern look and production

NDT is a good successor to Sagan
I liked this new Cosmos. NDT is a great successor to Sagan. The production quality is superb. Seth McFarlane's influence is welcome (and clear). Now I have to break with consensus and say I wasn't as captivated compared to the original, hence the 4 stars. Perhaps it's because I'm older, more cynical and enjoy complaining about how easy CGI has cheapened dramatic shots of star forming galaxies :) This new Cosmos is human-centric, more so than the original. Fine, but to me it had hints of Bronowski's "Ascent of Man" (which is better in this regard). There was a lot of time devoted to climate change, as in the original. Fine, it's an important topic. However, I think different topics could have been explored, in particular more modern developments in cosmology and physics-- I was half hoping things to pick up where the original Cosmos ended. I got a strong sense of deja vu seeing Newton's house multiple times! Generally almost identical footage appeared in several episodes, which can seem weird, especially if you watch them back to back.

Outstanding
Listened to Neil on The Life Scientific on a podcast last week and thought I would 'give it a go'. Well having just watched the first 4 episodes back to back tonight I am hooked. This should be shown to EVERY school child as it simply explains the universe and how it works in a nutshell without the need for 'faith' but based on the scientific principle. Where we don't know the answer yet - well that's ok but don't just make something up to fit the answer. My only regret is I did not buy it on blu ray - but at least now I can share it with every one I know! After Brexit, Trump and Fake News it is a travesty that our 'leaders' lack the science education that could be such a positive influence and direct a mire positive and enlightened future. Go buy today and enjoy the reality of the cosmos.

Class act
Saw the series, couldn't wait for the DVD to turn up. A place on my shelf was waiting right next to the Sagan original for months. It's top notch science with great reverence for its forerunner. Was absolutely gutted when it arrived and after a few days of watching more than one show at a time (tried rationing myself!) I discovered that disc 4 would not play. This is not the first time I've had that problem with a handful of DVDs bought in the last year, and no it's not my DVD player, it doesn't work on other players either. Unfortunately I was too ill and then too busy to return the item for an exchange before the return date ran out. So now I'm stuck with 3/4 of Cosmos. Still, it's better than most of the twaddle on TV from certain American channels (do they *really* need to have 'wars', 'extreme' or 'apocalypse' in every show's title?). Maybe it'll turn up on Itunes and I can download the last episodes separately.

Breathtaking glimpse of the wonders of space.
An excellent series. Beautiful digital imagery and refreshingly explained for all avid space fans. I love everything about space, but lack the knowledge. Cosmos Season 1 helped a novice have a clearer breathtaking glimpse of the wonders of space. Wonderful HD quality. Highly recommend. Product arrived promptly too.
