Very nice device with a terrible dictionary.
The device works well and syncs well with the phone app. I download books to my phone and then sync to the device. It sends them right on. It reads all kinds of formats as well. The backlight is really nice and you can adjust the color so it is more white or more warm. The auto adjust makes it way too bright for me so I just leave it on one setting and adjust it manually if I need to.The battery life is insane. It lasts forever. It will last weeks or longer if you read several hours per day.The dictionary is horrendous. This is not a real example, but you will get the idea: if you search for โdefinitelyโ it will say โroot is definiteโ or something equally as useless. It has a lot of words, but it has some glaring gaps. The speed is fine for reading a book, but browsing around the device it is a bit slow. Fortunately you donโt need to do that a lot.

Everything is as advertised
Disregard the PR talk as usual, it delivers the specs. Good value for the money.

Only Returned Because of Lag. Otherwise a great device!
I actually really liked this e-reader. It had a great reflow feature for pdfs, making them much more readable. The buttons made getting to the home screen or menu very easy and the expandable storage gave more bang for my buck than I got on other e-readers. The screen was pretty and the device was light. I only returned it because it could stall or be slow at times. I actually may order again in case the device I had was defective.

Excellent little reader.
I took a few days to sort out some kinks and get the settings figured out for optimal display of various formats, but, after all that I love this thing. It handles epub and the like as you would expect, but the pdf display is what I am most excites about. Many of the pdf files I have don't work well after conversion to other formats. They may bloat in file size, the text may become scattered and difficult to read, so on. I have put one such file on this reader in its original pdf format after experiencing failures in multiple conversions and found that simply changing the onboard display settings have made the pdf read just like an epub. This is absolutely amazing. I got this to replace a 12 year old paperwhite that finally succumbed to abuse from my 3 year old. I am happy now that it needed replacement. No account linking required, no fluff. Just load your files and go. Having a layer of anonymity in the digital content you read is very nice. Although this may not appeal to everyone it certainly deserves pointing out.I had an issue with a single book that was causing the books.db file to drop trou and presented in a way that made all books on the sd card after it (in alphabetical order) to not appear. This also caused the sort menus to not work. It took me an hour or so to sort this out. This is not a problem with the device in my mind. I dropped over 200 books onto it via SD card immediately. After singling out the bad book and converting it through Calibre to it original format it worked and all symptoms cleared up. In addition to a relatively simple diagnostic and solution on my end, prior to working through it I had sent and email to the manufacturer asking if they had seen this issue and an email returned shortly after with a ticket number and expected time to hear from support. Customer service is always a plus should you need it.This is a great reader. Simple, clean, and enough access to the system files to fix things on your own.

Great e-reader
I purchased this to replace my Sony e-reader when it was time. I loved the Sony and wanted a reader I can add an SD card to for additional storage. After looking around on line, I found the Pocketbook Lux 5.This is a great e-reader with expandable storage and a light. This is the first e-reader I have had with a light and I love it. I was able to pop the SD card out of the Sony and put it in this reader and all of my books were there. Easy to load and understand. The library function is a bit different and it is taking a little bit of time to adjust. I would/will purchase another Pocketbook e-reader.
