Bamboo Candy and Caramel Apple Sticks, Pointed Wood Skewers for Crafts: 50 Sticks per Pack

After searching high and low for high quality/low cost skewers to make caramel apples, I found this product on Amazon. I have used many different skewers in the past and these, by far, are the best I've ever purchased. The tips were sharp and strong enough that they slipped easily through my heavy apples. I made 25 "fancy" apples covered in caramel, candies, etc. The skewers had no problem keeping those apples held up as my guests lifted them up for eating. I've had problems in the past with the wood peeling from skewers, but not with this product. I use a lot of skewers for barbecuing meat and I am confident these would work for that task just as well as it did for my apples.

I purchased these bamboo sticks as a last minute attempt to procure something for some kids to use to roast marshmallows. We were having a party in the courtyard where we have a propane-fueled fire pit. The fire pit always scares me and in the back of my mind I'm afraid it may blow up unexpectedly at any moment, but no one else seems to worry about it. The kids will use our metal straws to roast marshmallows when they are desperate. The problem with this is it ruins the straws with stains, is hard to clean, and the metal heats up over the fire which can cause burns if you're not careful. So I ordered these on Whole Foods Grocery (along with some potatoes that came and were unusable because they were filled with black spots). The directions on the package instruct you to soak the sticks in water for half an hour before using, which I thought was a great idea, this way they would be less likely to catch on fire. Our guests arrived and the kids played outside shooting each other with nerf guns while riding around on scooters and crashing into the side of the house. After making dinner and taking care of our guests it was time to roast the marshmallows. I had forgotten to soak them so I ran them under the faucet for a minute thinking it was better than nothing. The kids loved the sticks! I made sure to tell them to be careful not to poke their eyes with the sharp end. The sticks held the marshmallows very well, but I had to coach the kids to use a flame close the edge of the pit because they were in danger of catching their sleeves on fire. This had nothing to do with the quality of the sticks, they were just simply too short for this activity. Overall I really liked these.

They worked great for my grandkids to make caramel apples for Halloween. They were very sturdy and easy to use.

Somebody indicated these were too thin. Not true if you use a small to medium sized apple. If you use a HUGE apple it probably would be true. These worked great. Nice pointy end. It does take pressure to get your apple on if it is a firm apple. Only issue is with one apple I noticed some bamboo fibers that the apple pushed up. These were easy to pick off but would not likely have been notice or produced a problem if they were left on.

This apple sticks are nice and thick, the perfect length and good quality. They arrived quick and I can't wait to finish using them for the caramel apples I'm making for some holiday gift baskets. Overall, I would/ will purchase again for the price and quality I received.
