Great test strips that turn darker the harder the water is so an accurate way to set up your water softener. mine, in common with most if not all, regenerates against a given volume of water used, the hardness setting was factory set and nowhere near high enough to give me properly softened water. I re-set it to a high value and over a couple of weeks gradually reduced it to where it now delivers soft water and uses minimal salt. These strips are expensive, but so is salt.

They work well.

Had been getting a lot of harrassment from the mem sahib re the hardness of our water, despite our having a water softener. Rather than buy a new softener (expensive) or spend a day under the sink trying to work out of there was something wrong with it (not an attractive proposition), I bought a set of these strips. These showed, to my satisfaction, that the incoming water is hard, but that issuing from the taps in the house is considerably softer. This has not entirely restored marital harmony, but a sort of grudging armistice has been declared for the time being. With the ashes test series in full swing, this is a good result for the price of the strips.

Overall, this product is capable of telling a glass of hard water from a glass of soft water in a side by side comparison, although it's advertised at doing much more than that. In terms of getting a usable concentration estimate - forget it. The red 'dye' that's produced in hard water just drips off rather than blending with the strip, so it doesn't create a coherent colour you can compare to the guide. Id avoid this one, unless it happens to be cheaper than the 'yes or no' hardness tests and that's all you need it for.

Have bought these x2 before but this time 7 sticks were blanks/barely visible ends therefore useless! A lot when not cheap to buy! Sad!

These are excellent for checking when to change the filters in the Brita Maxtra cartridges, water softeners etc. I'm a regular user

This test kit is very easy to use - a paper strip with a yellowish compound at one end is dipped in the water for 3 seconds and the ppm read off against a series of coloured squares on the outside of the can - the squares are darker as the calcium carbonate ppm gets higher. The squares are numbered in ppm, from 0 to 1000 in 8 steps, the last step being from 425 to 1000ppm. There is a use-by date, in my case May 2018.

These test strips are good value for the money. I test my sofened water once a month prior to topping up my water softner and one occasion the reading indicated there was a problem. Thanks to the strips the problem was located and resolved.

Ich messe damit stichprobenweise alle halbe Jahre die Wirksamkeit meiner Umkehrosmoseanlage für Gießwasser. Auch früher als Aquarianer habe ich solche Meßstreifen verwendet. Damals gab es noch nichts anderes. Aber auch heute noch funktioniert es besser als die digitalen Meßgeräte aus China, die nach ein paar Mal Benutzung schon kaputt sind. Meßstreifen funktionieren immer. Auch bei einem TDS-Meter hat man laufende Kosten für Kallibrierungsflüssigkeiten und das nervige Rekallibrieren, wenn so ein digitales TDS-Meter überhaupt so lange hält. Da sind die Streifen praktischer und zuverlässiger.

I used these in conjunction with an RV water softener. They are quick, easy to read and accurate enough for my needs. They work well.

Pratiche e precise. Le uso per testare il calcare in luoghi diversi quando viaggio. Attenzione che dopo la data di scadenza non reagiscono più e danno sempre indicazione di acqua non calcarea. Purtroppo scadono abbastanza in fretta.
