I’ve been using the ROVSUN Upgraded 1.1 Gallon Water Distiller for a little while now, and I’m genuinely impressed with how well it performs. The setup was simple, the instructions were clear, and the unit feels sturdier than I expected at this price point. The distiller runs quietly, produces very clean‑tasting water, and the stainless‑steel interior is easy to wipe down after each cycle. I really appreciate the automatic shut‑off feature—it gives me peace of mind when I’m multitasking around the house. If you’re looking for a reliable, affordable way to get purified water for drinking, humidifiers, CPAP machines, or even aquarium use, this unit delivers exactly what it promises. Great purchase and definitely worth recommending.

This distiller is slightly larger than many, but what attracted us was the on/off switch for AC power. No need to pull the plug to power down. It runs quietly, and was easy to clean up after use. We liked the plastic catch container - no glass to break! Our use is in a humidifier to avoid the white dust, and occasionally in an iron, etc. We do not use the carbon filter, which keeps things simpler, and particularly like the short flexible tube that can be attached to the spout to ensure all the condensate is directed into the catch container, and not dribbling off the edge of the lid with a slight misalignment. A tube of this kind could be added to similar distillers if they don't include one. We ran it on a Kill-A-Watt meter and were surprised to find that it consumed almost exactly the 900 watts at which it is rated, peaking briefly at about 905 watts, then settling down around 890-900 watts. It took about 3.7 kilowatt-hours to produce approximately 1.33 gallons of distilled water. (Note that we do not operate it at "full capacity", from fill line to dry - see next paragraph.) We avoid the overheating shutoff by measuring the capacity of the distiller just below the fill line (where we fill it), and note that level on the catch container. We power it off when the distilled water has filled to an inch or two below that. This leaves an inch or more of water in the bottom of the distiller. By not boiling it dry, we avoid depositing a lot of minerals in the bottom of the distiller stainless steel pot, and also avoid distilling over any small amount of heavy volatiles that boil at a higher temperature than water. We intend to plug it into timer switch capable of switching the 900 watt load, so allowing it to run without checking its progress. It is pretty reliable in timing, if started with the same amount of water, at the same temperature. We use hot water from the tap (actually just warm, as we keep the water heater set low), and our water is softened, which helps avoid lime scale. A cleaning with vinegar removes nearly all the "staining" we get in the bottom of the distiller pot, leaving only a faint stain that penetrated the surface of the steel right away, but is not really darkening with repeated use. Starting with hot water shortens the time before it starts boiling and producing condensed water. This water is heated with natural gas in the water heater, more cheaply than heating it with electricity in the distiller. Leaving some (hot) water in the bottom at the end of each use wastes the electricity used to heat it up. We are talking a few cents here, either way. At our electrical billing, I recall calculating the cost of distilled water at about 30 cents per gallon. (Forgive me if the power usage and cost data are a bit off, I am going from memory.) We are quite happy with this ROVSUN 6L distiller, and can recommend it. Our usage method was inspired both by our own ideas and the reports of other reviewers (thanks to all for reporting your experiences). Operated with a little care, it works fine, does not leak, and is easy to clean.

I use this device for distilled water for humidifiers, so everything here is based on that use. This is a pretty good distiller for the price, but requires care and diligence. First - this device does not work well as a "set it and forget it" appliance. The auto shutoff occurs far too late and exacerbates the build up of scale - I try very hard to never let it run dry. When there is a little water remaining in the distiller, it is easy to pour out the minerals suspended in the water. If it runs dry, those minerals bake into the stainless, requiring earlier descaling. I turn it off for about a half hour (let it cool off or you can get scalded) with 10% or so left and then rinse and refill. Second - if you have hard water (as I do) descaling needs to be much more frequent than the directions recommend - I descale weekly, or immediately if I let it run dry by mistake. Descaling is very simple and I use vinegar mixed with water. That's it - and it works well. If you use a little TLC you will be satisfied. If you just want to turn it on and empty it after self-shutoff, you will likely be disappointed as some other reviewers are. But for $70 you can't expect everything. So understand what you are getting and what you will really need to do to get the best results.

I've used this machine about daily for two months now and it's working well. It's the same design as a 1 gallon capacity unit sold through a different company name via Amazon. In that smaller machine there'd been a minor design flaw - the little cap that sits over the collection container caused the distillate to leak outside the container. Happily, this 1.6 gallon unit arrived with a section of food grade tubing that directs the distillate through the cap into the container, so no more problem with that. Overall I've found both machines reliable and really useful. During the driest part of winter the 1.6 gallon capacity kept up with the demands of my humidifier in a small house. I have moderately hard water and cleaning it with a wipe of white vinegar after each use avoids mineral build up. It also helps to set the machine on a 5 hour timer rather than letting it shut itself off - that way it's not ending its cycle with concentrated brine fusing to the bottom of the unit. The machine is a great advantage for having distilled water on hand. For CPAP use, for not having to deal with the white dust a sonic humidifier puts out, and for environmental concerns and the convenience of not having to buy plastic jugs of distilled water. I'm happy with it. Update FYI: Through some 126 uses over 2.5 years with moderately hard water, a number of spots appeared on the barrel floor. Now there's a small spot of rust there. I've always used the recommended descaler or my own solution of diluted citric acid, as directed. I never scrubbed. Continued use will probably not contaminate the distillate but, knowing rust, it'll create a hole eventually. If minerals degrade the finish on the floor of the barrel, damage may be due to having occasionally left the unit uncleaned for more than a day or two, but I don't know if it would have happened anyway at this point. It's still a great machine and works fine in every other way.

I wish I had chosen this brand the first time. I recently had to replace my old water distiller that I bought 3 years ago that was 4 TIMES (you read that right) the price as this one! I was upset that I spent so much money on a product that only lasted 3 years, so I abandoned that brand and found Rovsun. It looks nearly identical to the one I replaced. Main difference is the on/off switch in the back which is so convenient because I no longer have to plug/unplug to turn it on and off. I also love the stainless steel spout on the Rovsun compared to the plastic spout on the one I replaced. Distillation takes the same amount of time, which is roughly 6 hours. I should add that some reviewers complained about the PPM readings. Distilled water should be 0.5 PPM or less to be labeled as "distilled". But you need to keep in mind that not everything can be removed through the distillation process alone. You need to filter as well to remove particles that can't be removed from distillation, hence the filters they provide for you inside the spout. They're easy to change out. Just be sure to change them periodically. Changing them depends on how frequently you use your water distiller. Personally, I change mine monthly. Overall this is a great, inexpensive, water distiller. Highly recommend!

So far, so good. I'm glad to be using distilled water in my CPAP machine without having to lug gallons from the store regularly. I got a little confused by the front "start" switch and the rear on/off switch at first. But once you get that, you set it to distilling and walk away.

This distiller works great! It works just as well and as fast as the more expensive brand that I have at work. We have very hard water and I’ve ran this distiller 1-2 times per day, every day for months - it has never failed me! It takes about 4 hours to run. The blue plastic jug works just fine, I don’t notice any difference between it and the clear one. Overall this is a great machine.

This is the 2nd distiller I've purchased. Seems to work just like the last one. Just under 4 hours to make a gallon. My other one was also an inexpensive off brand and this looks nearly identical. That one lasted 2.5 years of daily use. The heating element on the old one failed and it was blowing the circuit breaker in my house. Also the reset switch had quit working after only 6 months but that led me to getting a plug in wall timer so I could set how long the distiller runs. I definitely recommend a wall timer where you can set the run time. Then you don't need to rely on the reset switch as your on/off switch and you can set the time so there is a little water left in the bottom of the pot. Then you can just rinse it out instead of letting the residue get baked on. You still have to use vinegar every once in a while. The reset button is really just overheat switch so using a timer should eliminate the stress on that switch which is failure prone. This one came with a plastic jug which I like over the glass jug my other one came with. It is lighter and easier to pour and you can see the water level better because the glass ones have a metal ring right around the top. It is supposed to be made of safe plastics and it doesn't smell funny so I will probably keep using it. I pour the water into others containers anyway after I distill it. I also got an all copper container for my drinking water that I refrigerate. The copper supposedly ionizes the water and when it's cold it really tastes awesome. I have been doing this since 2017 and I see no reason to stop. The crap that accumulates in the distiller is visual evidence of what you are drinking without one. Delivery was fast. The email said it would take a couple weeks for delivery but it showed up in 2-3 days with Prime. The quality of this unit seems fine. Getting one that doesn't have a problem right out of the box is a win I think. I've read a lot of reviews and they all seem to have some reliability issues. If I get a few years out of this I will be happy. Even the Magahome ones that cost $250 have failures and they sell spare parts for them that are more than a whole new off brand distiller. So that's why I got another off brand one and we'll see how it goes. I will update this review when/if this unit fails.
