Fantastic quality book from a true master. Insightful and interesting commentary alongside beautiful photographs and inspiring recipes. I own a great many similar books and this is right up there with the very best of them. Well worth watching the Chefs Table documentary about Massimo too, it'll give you a good idea of what this book contains.

If you care about food and you are interested to get to know the complexity and depth of the mind of one of the world's best chefs, you should read this book.I am following Massimo's work already since many years and for me he is a genius who is really living his life with his mind and heart wide open and expressing this through his dishes. A person with incredible broad-mindedness and depth, inspired by everything that surrounds him, with specially deep love for arts. So this book is not just a book for people who love food but also for those who love arts and for for any person who has that lively mind open and ready to explore new worlds. After reading that book your view on Michelin starred dinning may be changed forever.

Just to clarify - this book DOES contain recipes, just that they are written towards the back (p.276-297) whereas the earlier part of the book focuses on the story behind each dishI've just come back from dining at Osteria Francescana and can't wait to get my hand on these recipes! It will be tough but let's see how far I can go!

This is not your usual cookbook so if you want Jamie Oliver, go somewhere else for inspiration. If you want a new way to look at the world and food.....Look no further

Bought this as a gift, so read very little of the contents but it is a beautiful book from the outside and has some stunning photos. Perfect for a coffee table of shelf where it can be seen and a great gift for any foodie.

Brilliantly written book! Clever funny heartfelt with some unbelievable recipes which are linked to some wonderful stories. If you love Italian cooking or food, I would highly recommend, stunning book!
