I learned about 5HTP from my man just over a month ago. According to WebMD, 5-HTP increases the production of the chemical serotonin, which affects sleep, appetite, anxiety, depression, and many other conditions. This was recommended for my daughter by her therapist to help deal with her anxiety and depression. I decided to try it myself. It's been about two weeks now of taking it daily and I can definitely notice a difference in my sleep. Like many other users have reported, I've been having dreams! Previously, I would dream occasionally as a light sleeper but since taking 5-HTP I've had a much deeper sleep with lots of dreaming. I can say it's also helped level out my moods a bit, but that hasn't been as noticeable as the difference in my sleep. I'd definitely recommend taking this in the evening with dinner as it initially made me drowsy. Definitely a good product with well-sourced ingredients.

I have a long term sleep disorder exacerbated by shift work. I’ve been on various sleep aides like melatonin, every brand of OTC sleep supplements, and Ambien dependency for the last 10 years. I had tried 5HTP years ago without success. I decided to try it again, only this time I did better due diligence on brand, purity and dosage. So I’ve been taking this for a couple of weeks now. I take one 200 mg dose before bed. I can’t say it has cured my insomnia, although I sleep about 3 hours straight now before I wake up. I also fall back to sleep quicker, like 20 minutes instead of 2 hours. BUT… it has has eliminated my nocturnal eating habit, where I would wake up and binge eat on cookies, bread, or anything with sugar, causing rapid weight gain. . I’VE LOST ALMOST 8 LBS IN 2 WEEKS! I’m much less hungry during the day, and not craving empty carbs. This was an unexpected yet welcome effect of the 5 HTP. Now here is the down side. There is a brief episode of nausea about 20 minutes after I take my dose. The first few days I also had some gut cramping.but that has disappeared. So my overall impression of this product is favorable. I hope it continues to work for me.

I started taking 5-HTP supplements a few years ago to help combat bipolar depression symptoms as prescribed medications were nothing but a headache and never worked for me. This brand knocks all others I have tried right into the trash. First off, they always come IN THE CAPSULE! I can't tell you how many broken capsules I got with other brands. Second, the quality is far superior and consistent. I love that I can take these at night, sleep great, no grogginess, no unwanted side effects, and little to no deep depressive episodes. Please, keep making these as perfect as they are now, forever!

When I first started using this product I would get headaches. I stopped then began again and the headaches stopped. I was feeling rejuvenated. It was great so I continued. I’m also diabetic with high blood pressure. Continuing to take this supplement I noticed I started getting horrible stomach pain, diarrhea and some bouts of vomiting. I thought maybe my metformin was changed. I continued still not knowing anything. It reached its peak. I reviewed all my meds and none of them required me to eat prior to taking them. I mean I do take my evening meds, but I took this product in the morning. This product doesn’t come with a list of potential side effects like my prescriptions do. I looked at the rave reviews and decided to look at the low ones. That’s where I read people’s same side effects I was having for almost a month. It got soo bad I stopped drinking coffee because I thought maybe the acidity was causing my issue. I immediately stopped taking these and about a day and a half the pain had subsided. I give this product 3 stars because at one point it did work, but it came with awful side effects. For those who have stomachs like goats you’re not effected. I was so I would say like a reviewer before me said, if you have a sensitive stomach I would avoid this product.

I have been feeling very depressed & irritable for the last three months . I haven’t been exactly a happy person for quite a while now . The last three months I have noticed myself in a very dark place . There have been unpleasant issues in my work life that have tainted my everyday life & outlook . I ordered these about a month ago . After about two weeks I started DREAMING again . I cant hardly remember dreaming anything in YEARS . I know we dont remember most of our dreams - but , its like I would go to sleep & never , ever remember any dreams or even part of a dream like I used to when I was younger . Now I can remember up to three dreams a night , which is really amazing me because its been YEARS since this has happened . I believe my depression is lifting , not gone , but I’m feeling the empty hollow feeling going away first of all. Im also not feeling as irritable . Im feeling calmer . So to sum it up , I first noticed more dreams after two weeks of starting this supplement & after about one month a better sense of well being , calmer , less agitated , happier . I also have been careful that some nights I will skip taking the 5htp , just as a precaution . Im very hopeful & thankful that this seems to be working , so very happy Amazon has all these great supplements to improve health . My advise is to research any supplements , read the other customer’s reviews , & go from there . I personally have made a choice to stay away from antidepressants , I rather try a more natural holistic approach if ever possible . If suffering from depression do some research & try this out , I sincerely hope it helps a lot of people out there because depression is a horrid , miserable lonely thing to suffer & the worst thing is that Ive hurt those who actually care for me because of it . Has curbed my appetite made me happy and lower my anxiety. So happy with them and wish I ordered sooner. I take about an hour before bed

For the past month I’ve going through some life changes that causes lots of sadness and anxiety. After reading all of these amazing reviews I had high hopes and purchased. After close to 3 weeks of using this it has actually increased my anxiety. I keep waking up with morning anxiety, which I haven’t dealt with before using this product. I will not recommend this and stopped using it. Waste of money if you ask me!

I have been using these for 2 weeks. No mood changes, no improvements and if I take it in the morning it makes me feel hungry all day.

This came in a horrible shape, with a lot of loose powder in the package from badly filled capsules. I'd do a better job in my backyard! This does not look like a safe and legitimate product. Label looks different from photos.
