Review: Powerful, but dusty. - I have to say, the first words out of my mouth when opening this was "That's bad ass" It feels a bit like a mosnter, and I hope it lasts as long as the legends of monsters, I have a lot to do over the next few months with it so I will update if my opinion changes. The instructions are kinda crap in some ways and there was no information on which direction the screw is meant to turn for adjustments, so I tore up about 5mm of the first belt on on side before figuring that out. So far all I have done is sand the living crap out of an 8"x3" beam that I will be using to suspend gym rings and boxing bag from. It took about an hour or maybe a touch more each side but the wood was very very rough to begin with. I probably took 3mm all four edges from it in that time. It tears up corners much more quickly than you might expect so be careful there. I have sharpened up one superbly blunt chisel and one quite blunt cheap but thick 6" kitchen knife also, that was with the installed 80grit belt. Both in less than ten minutes. If you are looking for a way to sharpen steel, this will do the job but I can't recommend it unless you have some experience otherwise you might destroy your blades. No, make that a lot of experience. I do. I picked this model becuase it can be flat mounted and from that position I will be doing lots of steel work with it in the future to save my expensive diamond stones from the initial edge working to remove chips and such. The one major fault with this model is the suction bag system. It actually sucks. It might be fine if you are only using it to touch up clean wood taking it up the grits but for serious leveling work, it fills up in no time at all because it is far too small. I would recommend a well ventilated room to work in regardless, I got dust absolutely everywhere from the get go. I would consider this from my initial impressions to be an adequate model to be a part of a small woodworking company launch as long as you have a dust bag with hose attached.

**Q: what size sanding belts does it use**
A: It's best to stick with Bosch sanding belts. Belt size is 75 x 533 mm, caution with some genetic makes they can either be too tight or too loose.Good luck Dave.

**Q: What is the overall width? I need to sand between strips of raised beading standing 2cm proud with a 10cm gap. Will the sander fit?**
A: The belt is 76mm wide and is flush with the right hand side. There is a lump on the left hand side which takes the overall width to 110mm. If the filter is used on the dust port then that takes the width up to 150mm although the port is approx. 80mm above the belt.

**Q: How close to the edge of the tool is the belt? I need to sand down some wooden kitchen worktops which have tiled splashbacks.**
A: The belt runs at the edge of the machine but you can only get up tight on the side without the dust collector. You can of course work without the dust collector if you have adequate protection. Ideal tool for the job but treat with care so that it doesn't dig in

**Q: Is the variable speed function practical? Does it work off the trigger pressure?**
A: Hi there...  I bought this model.. PBS 75A.  It has an on/ off switch controlled by a spring.. ie. if your finger leaves the trigger/ switch it stops the motor. It is not a graduated/ slow start switch. It has a separate button to lock the switch in the on position.. which is useful when you want to use the sander upside down on a bench to sand items you have to hold in both hands.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great sander, useless dust collector.

This belt sander works well. and has been great for removing lots of old varnish from a wooden kitchen work surface. The dust collector is however useless. The dust collector cover doesn't clip on securely and sometimes pops off during use and sprays dust around the room. Also, it sticks out a long way from the side of the sander meaning you can't sand close to the edge of things in certain directions. Also, I was told it was possible to buy a bench clamp to use this as a fixed sander, but that no longer seems to be available. So that's also a bit disappointing.
