And guessing it was coming from 'The East' was happy to accept a long delivery time - turned out to be extremely fast, still have 9 left before it should officially arrive!I bought this because I have a infrequently used HTPC which had a single 500MB 2.5" HDD. Problem of course was that every time I did switch it on Microsoft decided to hammer the HDD for me, making it less likely to be switched on again. I'did noticed the the HTPC had a spare miniPCIe slot which could be switched to function as a mSATA slot (at the cost of being only SATA II, (300MB/s max). As the 500MB HDD seemed to do only about 90MB/s R/W sequential and of course was hellish with Windows 10 desperate need for random small file fetches, I thought for the price, what the heck - I'll buy and move the OS over to the mSATA slot leaving the 500MB HDD as a media backup drive.Pros:(a) Has the best packaging I have every seen for a SDD card.(b) Instructions were clear - had no need of them but considerate touch.(c) Performance was fair - 260 to 270 MB/s read, 105 MB/s write sequential on a mSATA II (max 300 Mb/s read) slot.Cons:(a) No motherboard screws - they are not easy to source.Result: My mini PC boots up fairly fast and recovers from Microsoft's drive hammering fairly quickly. The little system with a Celeron 1037U now subjectively performs general social, internet, mail and office tasks with the niftiness of my i7 4770 PC. I stopped running that business just before SSDs hit the market, and unbelievably this is my first SSD drive. I considered them a few times, but prices were high and capacities low. How times change, these are now highly affordable, and in performance terms they make standard hard drives look very slow indeed.This has the mSATA III connector, which is the laptop base version, and can be used in a desktop with a cheap simple adaptor. I've purchased an mSATA external drive case to connect this to my laptop via USB 3.0. This does mean I won't get the full performance I would expect if installing it as a primary drive, since the USB 3.0 transfer rate will be the limiting performance factor, but it still means I get blisteringly fast search and access times, and also blows away the performance of my older 500Gb external drive whilst using a fraction of the power. Using USB 3.0 also means not having to worry about going for the absolute latest, fastest and most expensive SSD.A final benefit worth mentioning is the weight, even in the drive case it weighs practically nothing, and I can store movies and music to take with me when away in the campervan, without worrying about running out of space on the laptop.
