Piano Professional Series: The Foundations of Technique (Faber Edition: Piano Professional)

A very good book on Technique.
It is clear that the author has devoted much time in developing "best practice" through his practical experience and observations over the years. These are clearly outlined in this book and his advice is never "take-it-or-leave-it" but is backed up with logical discussion. Our hands are mechanical devices controlled by our brain. This book is devoted to establishing the proper control between brain and hand so that the music in our head is the same as that produced by our playing.Work through each heading slowly and practice with the suggestions contained therein.

Very happy to have found this..
I'm teaching myself the piano at the moment so bought this book as a side aid. It's much better than I expected with lots of little exercises to try out as you read.

Buy!
Should be on every pianists bookshelf. Invaluable information, without myriads of Czerny-esque exercises, but doesn’t lack any either.

Wordy and Complicated
Very wordy and difficult to read. Very complicated to work out how to perform the exercises.
