Most people buying this sort of thing for their HP computer buy it in order to use a better graphics card. Here's been my experience. This PSU lets me use an RTX 3060 with 12 gigs of VRAM just fine. I don't notice any bottlenecking with gaming, or even better-than-entry-level AI workloads. I've heard of people using a double PSU set up before, and I've seriously considered it, but I've never had any throttling, and I've never had any problems. Definitely the 3060 that I'm using isn't rated for a PSU like this one, but it's only a small bit off. (For a double PSU setup, you use the primary PSU (like the one that came with your HP PC) to power everything except the graphics card. A separate, external PSU—rated for your GPU's needs—is wired only to the graphics card to power it.) For those wondering, gaming rocks with that 3060 and this power supply. The following stuff should help for people trying to upgrade their HP gaming PC with that card: I'm able to do whatever I need to do. Modded Minecraft Java Edition blows me away. Any of the stuff that I see people using 4090s for in that game works just fine here. I don't play a lot of Triple-A games, but Cyberpunk 2077 works just fine, No Man's Sky works just fine, and no other games that I've thrown at it have caused any problems. So if you throw in a 3060 12GB card into your HP tg-01 system, you will have no problems, as long as it fits. Make sure you get a short 3060! Get measurements and make sure that the exact length of the GPU you're planning to fit into your PC will work!! Also! With my GPU I've been able to do frankly superb AI image generation testing, large language model use, and just about any other consumer grade AI testing. No issues! I hope this review was helpful!

The 7 pin plug has only 3 wires instead of the 6 pictured and required by your HP motherboard.

I used one of these to upgrade the 250W PSU in my HP Prodesk 600 G3 MT. It fits perfectly and it doesn't even cause the fan error message I've read some variants can cause - apparently 6 of the 7 wires in the proprietary HP motherboard connector is sufficient to avoid this problem. I'm glad I spent the extra $20 to get one that shows the connector's wiring clearly in the pictures (I live in the UK so didn't want the expense of sending it back across the pond if it didn't work). Edit (10/2025): 30 months on, I modified the PC case to accept an RTX 2060 Super (rated at 184W). It's been running okay, almost all the time, very occasionally, maybe 5 or 6 times so far, the machine powers off without warning. I'm probably pushing my luck with this GPU...

The power supply is pictured with 6 pins connected on the motherboard connector to support fan detect. The P/S received only has 3 pins connected which generates a "Power Supply Fan Not Detected" error message during POST. Returning for a refund as I can't use it with that error.

PSU works but I did not receive the one as pictured. My old 250w PSU had 6-7 wires which is why I ordered this one as pictured. The new PSU works but I get a bios startup error with a single beep which requires me to hit the enter button to proceed.
