I recalibrate my 27in monitor every 6 weeks with a Spyder device and have an created exact profile for the paper and printer with a Datacolor Spectrocolorimeter so I get the best results every time. It's probably not worth your while spending lots of money on the goodies so I suggest you buy some paper and make a small print of the photo you want, print it onto the top of an A4 then if you're not happy with the result make some adjustments, which you record, and print on the same page in a different position. Then you can choose the adjustment you like and print large on a new sheet.
