Managing Multiple Sclerosis Naturally: A Self-help Guide to Living with MS

Let me tell you the truth ... From a physician
MS is a horrible disease. But the cause is different in different people. And as such the progression of symptoms is so different in different people. The time of onset is different in different people. Lesions come and go. Everyone gets better if they have the relapsing form until their next attack. Time between attacks is variable too. So if you did something after your attack and got better that does not mean what you are doing is the cause of you getting better .... That is the natural course of the disease ... Until the next attack which would come at variable times anyway. No one piece of advice will work for all people. There are a lot of contradictions in this book on the FOOD section. Eat one thing on this page of the book and don't eat that same thing on another page of this book. There are a lot of assertions made that are simply guesses because people with MS get desperate for a solution ( trust Me I know) but there is no evidence to back these assertions. Even anecdotal evidence is lacking in the real world. This book may help you to eat healthier which is overall a good thing, but it is NOT MS specific. Only the section of Vitamin D intake is largely established information. If you have MS, take vitamin D. This may actually help you. Otherwise, See an MS specialist and get on medications. There are many medications out there NOW that slow the progression of disease now. Don't see the average neurologist that's not familiar with these things but who thinks and insists they know. Go to an academic center and not a small community hospital. And sit in an MS specialist office for a while. And you will see that older patients who got MS years ago when there was no medicine come walking in with their canes or on a wheelchair, those that have gotten it more recently in the last 10 years and are on medications are walking and working and have little disability. This the best advice anyone can give you. I am a physician and speak from the heart and head. You have everything to loose, go on medications with an MS specialist at an academic center. The stories about diet alone will only hurt you ... Wishful thinking is too risky here. The sections that are on issues other than diet maybe helpful to some. These sections are perhaps the only sections of the book that are worth reading. GET on MEDICATIONS if you have MS. Don't trust the diet hype alone.

Opening Up A New World For Me.
While I am not new to Multiple Sclerosis it's self. I would say that I am a beginner at taking control of my illness, rather then letting my diagnosis take control of my life. I have done a lot of reading on the subject but not in the area of helping myself naturally. This book (combined with Dr Russell L. Blaylock Health and Nutrition Secrets that can save your life. Health and Nutrition Secrets ), has opened up a whole new world of vitamins and supplements to me. That I am beginning to explore and already seeing noticeable improvements. My boyfriend actually encouraged me to see if there was anything I could do for myself naturally, I looked to make him happy. As I had been conditioned to depend solely on the U.S. drug manufacturing to help me. I won't mention brand names here a they may help others, However some of those first shots I was placed on made me feel terrible. I do use a prescription medication as it has helped me, I believe adding the advice in this book will enhance my life. I would say this book is a good one to own if you have M.S.

If you have MS, you need this book!
I was JUST diagnosed with MS. I went thru many books online and after reading other reviews this was one of the first books I selected. SO glad I did! This is the quintessential book. This author goes over pretty much everything available to help you decide which route you wish to take in your healing. I now feel empowered to deal with my situation and take my healing into my own hands, of course, with the help of great doctors, but at least now I feel more educated and I know how to direct my doctors on the path that I wish to take...which is absolutely going to be trying to heal and deal with this as naturally as possible. I'm not opposed to drugs that may help, but I am running with major lifestyle changes and this book is such an amazing resource I am SO grateful. Very well written, easy to read, even an enjoyable read. Gave me a lot of hope that my life may have changed dramatically, but there is a lot I can do to life a long and healthy life in spite of my MS diagnosis.

A great informative book
I was diagnosed with MS in 2014 and I thought I had done so much researching that I knew everything but this book actually had a lot of new information in it. It had different treatments and listed people that they worked for. It even had what I do in there which is lions mane and Curcumin. This was a great read and I def recommend it. I am not a big reader but I found myself looking forward to reading it and finishing it.

Very interesting read
I bought this book for my brother who suffers from MS. The book is extremely informative and written by someone who suffered for years with the disease and how she got herself better. I would recommend that anyone with MS read this book just to hear another side of this disease.

Thorough Directory of Options
I was looking for a book to give a friend who was recently diagnosed. I read all the preview pages from all the books available through amazon and this was on of two that I liked the best. (the other being Minding my Mitochondria) this is a general overview of pretty much anything that will help alleviate and control symptoms. Contains pretty much everything that anybody else has ever mentioned though not everything is gone into in detail. for those topics only briefly alluded to, further resources, like books or sites, are listed. you'll find everything from the mundane and tested to the profound and experimental in here.

Nice review and suggestion guide for MS
I got this for my grandchild and though it had many good ideas but doubted that the book would get much attention. Some people only "trust" the doctor even in something like MS in which the doctor can not do much. The ideas in the book might help quality of life but did not inspire me to catch MS. Amelioration is important though in any chronic disease and this seems to provide considerable guidance.

Not for me
I was recently diagnosed with RRMS and saw Judy on the Living Proof documentary. I bought her book in hopes that it would help me on my journey. This book is packed full of knowledge and advise but three chapters in and dipping into other chapters I found it extremely overwhelming. The amount of supplements that’s advised to be taken on a daily basis is crazy! I felt that if I didn’t live to these strict rules I was doomed in my MS journey. This isn’t the outcome I was looking for. What Judy has done in treating her MS is amazing and she gives hope to many with this disease, however the book took my mind down a stressed out and unrealistic path.

Did not help me with the idea of naturally helping MS
Ok, my first complaint is the number of supplements that you have to take. Unfortunately, if most of the supplements are taken they won't help much as they do not have the coenzyme necessary to cross the membrane when taken. The word 'Naturally' I thought would have meant eating naturally.I was expecting more in the way of recipes. There are lots of pointers on where to buy supplements and stuff. Overall, in my case, sadly very disappointed.

Brilliant read
Such a great read, covers so many issues. I couldn’t put it down. I got this book for father’s day and my dad who has MS said how it was like an encyclopaedia of knowledge. I think this book will help him. Thank you to the author!

Interesting stuff
I found it really helpful, and thought provoking. There are a lot of supplements recommended though, so review your diet and take from it what you think you need.

Me and my MS and how to live with it.
When you get told you have MS lots of things go through your mind, like what can I do to help my codition or where can I look to to tell me aboutthis condition and what it is and how it will affect me. I found this book help me answer these questionsand in a way that was informitive but not overtechnical. Managing Multiple Sclerosis Naturallya self-help guide to living with ms by Judy Graham. I hope other people find the same as I did when I read this very interesting book that I purchased from Amazon.co.uk as I am a someone who has ms. When you start to think about your diet and how it can affect your ms this book is exilent by explaining what food are good for ms and what foods to avoid Many foods that the author discusses in the book are very high in the vitimins that helps the body to cope naturally with ms. Exersise is also discussed in the book by the author as many people with ms find it difficult to exersise. She explans that there are diffrent types of exersise that people can do.But many people suffer from fatigue so she explains how to have a coping regime to deal with it. There are many more things that the author discusses and she gives examples of peoples expriences which I found most interesting. On the whole I found it a very helpful book.
