Other reviews have complained about them breaking, but I have had mine for almost a year now and they seem to be working fine. They do not seem to keep the drinks carbonated indefinitely, but long enough that I am able to use up most of a 2 liter. My favorite mixed beverage is gin and tonic, so I usually use this on the tonic and instead of having to use a new bottle every day that I have a drink I am able to make a bottle last a week or so. I would say at this point the product has paid for itself, even though it does seem a bit expensive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great idea that I wish someone had come up with sooner. *by A***D on August 29, 2018* We drink a lot of carbonated drinks around here, especially during the hot months of summer (and in Atlanta, that means hot and humid). But the big problem is that a half-empty 2-liter soda bottle appears to loose about half of its carbonation after only a few hours, and by the next day it's almost all gone.Enter the solution: if the bottle is sealed and the air pressure in the bottle is increased, the there is less loss of carbonation. As the pressure in the bottle increases, the loss of "fizz" in the soda decreases.This device is a great idea and I've been using 2 of them for some time now. They DO make a significant difference. I did do one test on this issue and the results were very positive. I opened a new bottle of a soda [A well-known lemon-lime soft drink with very high carbonation, one which goes flat pretty quickly most of the time] and poured half of it into another bottle (call it bottle "B"), sealing the initial bottle (call it bottle "A") immediately after pouring 2 large glass of soda into glasses. At the same time I also replaced the original cap on bottle "B" (but did not pump it up). Then I pumped up bottle "A" with 100 "pumps." (yes my fingers got tired...) The bottle could probably have taken more pressure I think, because there was still some "give" to it when I pressed on it with a thumb. Then I put both bottles in the refrigerator and left them there for 24 hours. The soda in bottle "B" literally was not completely "flat" but it was so close to it that the difference would matter only to a researcher. However, the soda in bottle "A" (the one I pumped up) was still very well carbonated, and it was a lot more enjoyable than the soda in bottle "B" (as expected). Then I opened another (new) bottle of the same soda, and by comparison (this is subjective) I'd say that the soda which had been stored under pressure had retained probably a little more than half as much carbonation as the new bottle.So I am very pleased with these "Fizz-keepers" and will probably buy more of them. (Note: I also a " Jokari Fizz-Keeper Pump Cap (5002)" , and this is a much better product.)(BTW I did NOT try exploding a bottle by over-pumping it, but I am confident that this device would do just that if I tired...)PROs:1. It keeps the carbonation fairly intact just as described on the web page.2. It is possible to pour the soda from the bottle without removing this "stopper", saving time.CONs: (yes there are some, probably all non-issues)1. Pumping a 3/4-empty bottle up takes a lot more time that I'm generally willing to use in doing so (also my hand gets tired). This are the breaks and I had expected that, so maybe it's a non-issue.2. I have large dogs. When the cap is "released" to pour the soda, there is a loud sound as the pressure is suddenly released. While of of the dogs ignores that sound, the other goes berzerk and literally wants me to pick him up and "protect" him from it (With a small dog, that's easy. Try it with a 110-lb++ critter who is already excited and/or scared). So if you have large dogs who can be frightened by loud sounds, be aware that this can happen. (Not a major issue, but I try to be thorough..)3. It wasn't invented 30 or 40 years ago. :-(4. It isn't free. :-(5. It doesn't work on champagne bottles.
