I was used to using the 'normal' toe nail clippers and these are a little different when you use them so I have had to get used to the way I hold them; once you've done that they are exceptionally good for thicker nails (the reason I bought them) as the normal clippers don't seem to have the strength to cut through, but these are very robust and are basically what the professionals use. This may not have helped you much so I'm sorry for that; you could do with being able to handle a pair of these to see if you can manage them with the arthitis in your hands. The only way I can think for you to do that is if you go to a chiropodist and ask to look at them and hold them and explain that you were thinking of getting some; that's what I did, but then I'm a bit cheeky!! **Q: Can anybody tell me please if the clippers are suitable for woman?** A: Yes of course. However the techique of use is different to that of scissors - similar to using pliers. They are suitable for finger and toe nails but MUST be used with care and precision. Their dimensions are fine for both male & female hands. **Q: Are these suitable for left handed use** A: I would say yes, largely because you don't cut across the whole nail in one go - you basically cut part of the nail at an angle either from the right or left. One trick is to cut a v in the centre of the nail and then trim, accordingly. **Q: are the very sharp and re-sharpeable. And are they exactly the same as the US specification?** A: The blades are sharp and with personal use I haven't seen any deterioration in cutting ability after a number of years use.
