IomegaZip 250 USB host Powered Drive

I purchased it because I had a collection of Iomega discs and could not remember what was on them. Useful as a bit of nostalgia researching.Shame they only go unto 750mb whereas usb's are now in gb's. Vastly more storage available on usb.

I borrowed a friend's Zip 250 USB powered drive the other week, and have now just ordered one for myself. The plug and play feature is excellent: you don't need to restart the computer to use it, which is great for university; especially for large assignments, presentations and for downloading large files from the internet to take back to a home computer. the zip 250 definitely fills the gap between a floppy disk and the need for a CD-rewriter. Even if you have files that are larger than a 250 mb, they can be spanned across disks with the use of a file compression utility such as Winzip. The actual size and no-need for a separate power supply are further benefits in its favour. this makes the drive extrememly portable and easy to transport between computers. This drive is going to make my life much easier... i will no longer have to carry 20 floppy disks to university with me! I would recommend a zip 250 drive to anyone needing to transport files from one computer to another.

It's a nice drive, it's very small & lightweight (and therefore easy to carry about if you want/need to), and the supplied vertical stand is a good idea if you have limited desk space. The only real criticism of the unit, is that is DOES NOT come with any zip disks. Which feels a little mean. So unless you already have some, make sure you order some to go with it.

Easy to install and as flaky as puff pastry. The only reason I bought one is because I needed to look up a file on an old zip backup set. Whilst I was working in Europe I'd junked the m/cs with zip drives. Then I needed to restore files from a zip backup. It can't even read the same disk successfully twice in succession.

I have this hardware and i had no problems Installing or using it, it is very small and quiet (for a zip drive). And looks great. Handy for quickly transferring data between PC'S & Makes no fuss when unpluged and reconnected.
