Great sugar thermometer and as advertised!
First of all you should note it is slightly larger than you would expect based off the pictures on the listing. This is fine as its not so big that you can't use it. It has a nice clip on the back which allows you to attach it on the side of a pot (if you have a tall enough pot for it! The clip is also good for storage if you want to clamp it on the edge of a shelf or something. The handle bit is made out of plastic but seems to be okay for hot temperatures The temperature seems to be accurate and we have had no problems with the thermometer at all so far! It is sturdy and well made and doesn't seem to be of the sort of cheap metal that could rust. Recommended!

Sturdy jam thermometer
A nice, sturdy thermometer. Great for your larger jam pan. It doesn't steam up in the pan and has a steel plate that protects the glass thermometer from the bottom of the pan. It seems accurate enough... The jam set anyway!

Worked fine for me.
I have just started making jam and soon realized that a thermometer would make the process easier. This one looks a bit old fashioned but works well. The clip is not all that easy to use but I managed okay. I can't attest to the accuracy, but the jam did jellify correctly so it is probably about right.

Cooking is better as a result
Clips well to the side of my pan and provides accurate temperature readings. Deep frying is significantly easier when I know exactly how hot the oil is, and significantly eases regulating temperature. Cooking is better as a result, as I no longer have to guess how hot the oil is, meaning I no longer over- or under-do it.

Essential when deep frying.
A sturdy, well made thermometer which now prevents me overheating the frying oil. Easy to clean and store.

Useless - far too inaccurate for jam making
In May 2020 I bought a Tala jam thermometer from Amazon. It worked fine but after a year the numbering had worn off the lower part of the gauge, leaving just the scale. So this summer 2021 I bought another one, this time a Polder – the design is so similar it looks like they may be the same company? Anyway, I tested them one against the other, and of course they gave different readings. So I used them to measure the temperature of boiling (soft) water – according to Tala it boils at 99 degree C, according to Polder water boils at a little over 102 degrees. Of course it really boils at 100 degrees C exactly, and the difference between 105 (setting point) and 103 (not setting point) is critical in jam making. I therefore couldn’t recommend either – Tala because it wears out quickly and is a little inaccurate, Polder because it is so inaccurate as to be useless. Guess you just have a pay a bit more for a good one.

Accurate
Arrived on time bigger than i thought it would be. More accurate than the smaller thermometer i have but better because it can clip on saucepan

No Good. Doesn't display the right temperature.
I bought this for my wife who likes baking and deep frying. She found that most recipes didn't work even though she was using the right temperature according to this thermometer. She suspected that it was not displaying the right temperature. I tested it with boiling water, which should be 100C - the thermometer never got over 66C. I am disappointed with this purchase.

Plastiverpackung offen
Die Plastikverpackung des Thermometers war offen. Es ist dann schwer möglich so etwas als Geschenk weiterzugeben. So stelle ich mir eine professionelle Handhabung von Versandware nicht vor.

Essential for every Baker.
I bought this for the sole purpose of making sucre a la creme, and it turned out flawlessly! Accurate and easy to read, it's a very large thermometer but has a sliding clip on the back. Worth ever penny!
