Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency’s most dangerous missions. But when her partner (Jude Law) falls off the grid and another top agent (Jason Statham) is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer and prevent a global disaster.

Properly Funny Film
What a great fun comedy which both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed all the way through. And whilst McCarthy is the American star, most of the other lead actors are British. In fact pretty much the entire film has a rather British feel about it despite being marketed as an American one The benefit of that of course is the humour often has a British slant.McCarthy is superb and is a genuine comedy talent who really makes fun of her generous size to great effect. Statham plays it completely straight and clearly draws upon his previous films to poke fun out of himself. He really nails it. Jude Law would as someone else wrote make a wonderful Bond. Probably more in the Roger Moore mould not Connery or Craig. Would be a welcome change perhaps.Rose Byrne plays the femme fatale baddie and almost steals the show especially with the odd unexpected potty mouthed tirades. Miranda Hart plays the normally office based friend and work colleague to McCarthy and she plays basically Miranda Hart - so you'll already know if you find her funny or not.Action is fast paced and the fighting scenes are a cracking mix of humour and violence. Almost cartoon like.Overall a great film if you want a bit of light hearted entertainment.

Very, very funny film
I saw this on an aeroplane and even through the interruptions and poor sound I enjoyed it very much. It's even better than I thought, is very funny, although it gets slightly long in the middle. Very clever and enjoyable. I want to watch it again soon because even at home I found the lines are delivered sometimes very quickly and I think on the third viewing I'll like it even more. It's a great take-off of every spy film you've ever seen.

Wonderful Entertainment
Comedy at it's best, the beginning is great the laughs are there with the cast doing what comes naturally a serious caper, with tricks thrown in here and there that keeps it going. Spies and crooks seem to come out of the woodwork and no-one trusting anyone I don't blame them. Different and yet you know it's not going to happen but surprises are around so this is where I leave you so that a fabulous show won't be spoiled by telling to much. I rated this an A grade plus for wonderful ideas and great acting by all, Now get ready for a full on comedy night after you collect the movie and sweets so you can relax with feet up and listen to a marvellous show. Enjoy!

Enjoyable movie
Loved this film. not often that I find these modern comedy films funny but this I really did. It also kept my attention, something that many films manage. Melissa mcCarthy Is great in this film (I always think she looks like a US female Ricky Gervaise) In this film she is great as the US spy sent out undercover in the guise of typical US housewife tourist. But who can kick ass if needs be. The rest of the cast work well too. There are some quite grusome or violent scences & a quite rude selfie video scence that unexpectedly took me by suprise in the version I saw, So I would be careful with younger viewers. That said its still a hugely enjoyable movie & i'd recomend it

Full of laughs
Whenever I see a film billed as a Comedy I don't usually hold out too much hope of laughing - maybe a comment on my sense of humour/mental state, who's to say? - but this film certainly earned that billing. I saw it twice before deciding that I will definitely need to see it again in the future and so bought it. I had never seen Melissa McCarthy before and thought her performance was hilarious - as with all the other players. The scriptwriting was brilliant, acting superb and delivery/timing of humour spot on. Each to their own, I know, but in my opinion Spy is one of the funniest films I've seen in a long, long while.

Bloody brilliant!!
This is by far one of the funniest films I have watched in ages. I love Melissa McCarthy anyway but she was brilliant in this. The rest of the cast were also amazing, Jude Law was his usual British lothario self and Jason Statham was fantastic as the idiot agent of the group. Rose Byrne played the bad guy brilliantly, I mean I love how she gets the posh but pushy perfect.I loved the storyline, it was so funny to watch and I usually find I drift with films between my phone and doing other things but I sat and watched this from start to finish.A really great quality comedy, would highly recommend it.
