Will this take the weight of a large shower head? I bought a universal one for B&Q and it droops when you put the shower head in.

Probably not, but mainly, if you have a large showerhead, the base of the shower head wont fit into the holder... that's our problem at least (and when it doesn't fit properly, it wont support the weight)

How do you adjust the head holder?

Hi Ryan, it clamps to the pole and you twist the end to lock on and off. you turn the whole thing to adjust the angle to suit. It is a bit awkward to do to be honest and if you have a heavy shower head, I suggest you get a different fitting as it slips easily. It does the Job but want buy it again. I suggest one that slides up the pole and then clamps in position.

My shower head is 24mm diameter, will it fit this bracket?

It doesnt fit all shower heads , we have a Mira shower head and this bracket is too small

Does this hold the shower head well when you you turn the water off? I found with some, the shower head drops down when you turn the shower off.

Yes it does hold the shower head very well, but you must ensure the shower head holder is fitted the right way up. The top of the holder has a wider space than the bottom. If you fit it the wrong way up it won’t hold the shower properly.
