The product works really well and almost instantly helped with my GI issues. Within about a week (the ramp up period) I was taking 4-5 capsules with each of lunch and dinner. After about a week I started noticing that my sleep was increasingly disturbed and that I was feeling very off mentally- depressed and anxious which is not normal for me. After looking into it, betaine can interfere with tryptophan, which is a serotonin precursor, and can cause these mood and sleep side effects in certain people, especially depending on dose. I had to discontinue taking this product, even though I think it is very helpful for GI issues.
